View Full Version : All in one pricing
Over on one of the tanning salon owner sites, I really don't remember which one, I asked a question once about pricing for salons. I wanted to know if a salon offered a pricing structure that included free pick of lotions within a certain range so that you just paid your money each month and got unlimited tans and unlimited lotions and maybe even free 1/2 litres of water every time you tan would you do that. Understand that this would vary from region of the country to region of the country and for different pieces of equipment. For now, just forget the price. Make it whatever you want. All I am wondering is if there were a price that the salon and you could agree on would you like such an idea?

It might look good on paper but some may try to exploit it somehow. It sounds nice but there needs to be some regulation, especially with the lotion. What they can do however is along with your unlimited (or whatever) tan is to give you a proper amount of lotion, for use with that session only!. I'm sure that it would make those plastic portion cup manufacturers happy

hmmm, I would, but it would have depending factors you know? like upgrades, would there be a discount on that? also WHICH lotions would matter too. you know overall value....if it seemed like I good deal, yes I would jump on it.

I'd rather pay for sessions and lotions separately
The way I see it happening is this. You would pay x amount for base beds, y amount for the next level of beds, z amount for the next level of beds. You would have your choice of lotions from amoung 3 or 4 lotions that would be tingling, nontingling, bronzer and cooling. 1 set for base beds, 1 set for the next level, and so on. The higher the amount you pay and the better the beds the better the lotion. There would be no way to rip it off, you pay for unlimited tanning and unlimited lotion. The lotion would be given to you in 1/2 or 1 oz tubs that you used each time you tan. The price is the deal, what it would have to be to make it worth while. Both sides have to win, the salon and the customer.

what if I didn't like the 4 lotions that were available in my membership level?

I may want to start off with base bed, but use high-end step 1 products such as X-Speed.
How will that fit into the scheme? Would I have to pay the difference?

um, then no I would pass. I don't like someone else being in control of my lotion. I would want the full bottle & sealed, but that is just me.
You could just cahrge a small difference. Usually not much. You may want to just buy your own lotion and there would be a preffered tanners discount for that. The salon could just figure out how much your monthly cost for lotion would be to them on the program and credit that amount back to you when you buy a bottle of lotion. For instance say you buy the best program and get the best lotion. You really want a different lotion so I just deduct what you are going to cost me in lotion for the month from your lotion purchase. It could be worked out, not easily but it could be done. Any time you live in a world where you can put a man on Rosanne Barr you can do anything.

LOL Rich. As long as the owner is flexible and willing to work around issues that may arise, I might be a good program.

I don't know... it sounds like a great idea in theory.... but if my salon tried to implement that I would freak because I hate their lotion selection. 3 or 4 selections per level is not realistic because you're talking like 2 browning, 1 bronzer, 1 tingle, 1 cooling lotion and that's it. What if I don't like the 1 bronzer in my category? or the 1 tingle? Variety is the spice of life and everyone's preferences are different. I think you'd be making your life very difficult if you limited the selection that much.

it sounds like what anya talks about as a gold member in her salon ?
It would have to be all lined out way before hand, no flexiblity involved. If you bought a certain pacakge you would have to know all the paramaters, how much credit you would get for lotion etc etc. I like the program because I think it could bring some civility to all the step ups you face, from both sides of the coin.

Chica, I didn't think of that. My salon doesn't sell all the lotions I like, however, I'm sure they could special order them.
You are right, the selection of lotion would have to be wide. We carry 3 brands and 4 types in each. The basic accelerator, tingle, bronzer no tingle, bronzer with tingle. Then we throw in some shivering. We try to keep it simple and still cover the bases. I have never believed a clerk or customer can go over 37 lotions and try to remember all there is about them.

ok there you go, you just lost me on that one.. I hate feeling LOCKED INTO anything, even if I know all of the parameters beforehand. This is why I don't shop at Brave New World. You can't return anything for any reason... I don't care if I've tried the jeans on 100 times and they fit like a glove, I hate the idea that I could never return them, even if I had no intention to.
What I meant was that if you signed up for a certain level you would know in advance what your lotion credits would be. No guess work, you know you are getting what everyone else does. Each level would have different amounts of credits available if you need them since you paid different amounts.

Rich, are you actually thinking of doing this? or are you just bored on a Saturday night?
I have given it serious thought. It would be an original idea in a marketplace devoid of original ideas.

I'd rather still buy lotions separately. I just like trying and using too many lotions to be limited by this.
That is an obstacle to this working, maybe it is too complicated of a way to try and solve too many problems.
