i have seen many people who do not tan and are pale use this and not have any problem and never EVER streak. generally if u streak u did not listen to the instructions very well or u did not follow the instructions they gave you. i've used it i love tanning in beds but i will do the mystic for an extra boost. you are supposed to towel off right away like you do after a shower and check the back of your legs and other parts that solution could collect and make you darker in spots. there are quite a few people who use this at the salon i tan at on a regular basis and LOVE it and would never dream of tanning in a bed

self tanning takes a lot of practice and experimenting with products that are right for you....It's not an easy thing to achieve the perfect tan. I have seen people that get the application pretty good and can get a natural color but its not something I could deal with. I enjoy tanning in the beds and the color I get I will occasionally use an st on my face. Everyone should respect each others choices to tan or st.

My friend has done it a couple times. He's strictly red hair, pale, and freckles, and he's really insecure about his fairness, so he decided to try the Mystic Tan. I don't know exactly how it works, like if you can get light, medium, or dark solutions, but I wasn't too keen on the way it looked on him. It was always even, it never looked streaked or anything, but I dunno, it didn't make him tanner per say - kinda like peach colored, lol.

ya the color isn't the same as a real tan...to be honest it might have to do with exfoliating, but i think that a good old real tan is the best

The Mystic tan isn't the only thing out there.. I really dont like how it's treated as if it is. You have to understand the majority of people who use a sunless tanner do it because they don't tan, or haven had some sort of medical reason not to tan.

Airbrush tan worked perfectly for me....the girl that applied it knew what she was doing, and I'm thrilled!

I've used sunless tanners before and they worked pretty good on me. I think if you follow the directions and exfoliate properly it won't streak. But of course, practice makes perfect.

How long does it take to complete the airbrush tanning? I'm also curious how much it costs and how long it lasts....

Don't just come out and say "IT DOESNT WORK" some stuff works differently on other skins.. and like the other person said, they probably didn't follow directions. I'm sorry, it's just kinda a pet peeve of mine.

I tried the Mystic tan last year... they recommended two sessions (24 hours apart). Also, with the Mystic there are three levels, or density I guess it is, of tan solution, and if you go too high, it can streak or look orange. They didn't recommend that I go higher than level 2.
It gave me absolutely *gorgeous* color after the 2nd session.. deep and dark without a trace of streaking. Although, when you first come out of the Mystic booth, if you don't dry the backs of your legs right away, the bronzer that's in the solution can look like it's streaked somewhat, but those "streaks" wash off in the the first shower.
It looked great, but I couldn't keep up with it due to the expense. I'm very fair skinned (Irish/English combo) and it takes great care for me to tan naturally without burning which is what led me to try the Mystic. But, I've recently started back in the good old beds... With the advice I've read here, I'm only going every other day. Wonderful board!

I think I am going to do a mystic tan tonight! I am going to Chicago for 3 days for a little VACAY! So I am going to tan in a bed tonight and then go for a little mystic tan so that I can be dark for my trip! It sounds horrible but I hate missing out on my tanning! So maybe this will make me feel better on my trip! What do you guys think?

I am a regular sunless tanner user for the past four years, which means that I have not tanned outside for that long. When I do need to spend time outside, I apply an spf of 30 or 50 on every couple of hours. I was a regular tanning bed users for most of my later teens and early 20's. The final straw is when I went to the tanning bed and got raw, raw red. I just vowed to myself never to do that to my skin again. I also worked with a sunworshipper who developed skin cancer which took her life at age 53. Unfortunately, I am very fair skin with blonde hair and blue eyes. I just look washed out without a tan. I have tried four different sunless tanners until I got the right one for me. So it is a trial and error kind of deal. The application does take some practice, but it is well worth it. I get compliments on my sunless tan all year long. I think that the streaks are from uneven application (probably too little being applied over a large area). Each person needs to do what they think is best for their own bodies. If anyone wants to check out the sunless tanning message boards, please check out http://www.sunless.com/phorum/ to see advice and messages on sunless tanning.

Have you tried Mystic tan? Or any of the other spray on tans at salons? And may I ask about your experience at the salon when you were burned? We stress on here NEVER burning to get a tan. And we try to educate new tanners on how to start out slowly, so they don't burn.

I am sorry, but the sunless tanning booths like Mystic and Magic ane too expensive. I mean $25. or $30. for a session for a tan that last 10 days at best??? Not for me, but spray away if you love it! I have been using Coppertone Endless Summer sunless for years and have great results, NEVER a streak!

You know, it's not ALWAYS people not following instructions. I haven't done Mystic Tan yet, but I have tried at least 4 brands of bottled self tanner. I exfoliate, I put rub it on in circles instead of up and down, I've tried wearing gloves, using cosmetic sponges, the whole 9 yards. And every single freakin time--streak, streak, streak. I don't know if it's my body chemistry or what, but it just plain doesn't work for me.

the spray tan is much simpler than a bottle of self tanner. it's a fine mist that sprays u and all u have to do is wipe down and make sure that get all the solution off.

My problem is that for $20-$30 a session there are too many "make sure to"s for it to be worth it. For instance, you have to MAKE SURE not to do anything that may cause you to sweat or go in water for 8 hours (that's easy being summer and all) and MAKE SURE to put that blocker cream on your joints so you don't look like an idiot with black, cracked elbows, and BE SURE to rub it all in using circles...etc. No thanks. For that kind of money you can buy the best bottle of self tanner in the world and it'll last a whole season AND you can have fun applying it in private.

True, true, the Mystic Tan may very well be better. I still like my relaxation time in the beds though. LOL

The nice thing about sunless tanning [or spray on tanning] is that it gives those who cannot tan in the conventional sun or sun beds another option to getting some color. I would rather have a nice light color than be milk white. (of course getting even darker if you are a UV tanner) Coming from a person who has tanned in the sun and in the beds since she was 14 (beds @18) and decided just 16 months ago to use only the MagicTan. The beds are very relaxing and help to give you a nice added glow... in moderation. I'd rather go with the few hassles you may feel you have to go through with the barrier cream and the stance position than look at myself later on wishing I did.
