just thought I'd let you guys know hemp is not just for lotions! I love chapsticks made w/ hemp! and try to find a shampoo & conditioner with hemp in it. I swear there is nothing like it, you will be amazed at how soft your hair feels.
I’ve also make a hemp hot oil hair treatment, LOVED IT! I mixed equal proportions of hemp oil and Jojoba oil (or you could use flaxseed oil or virgin olive oil, but if you do use these refrigerate any leftovers) and I added a few drops of lemongrass & lavender essential oil for fragrance (but you don’t have to) microwave it for just a little bit & work it thru. wrap hair in a warm towel to keep hair warm. leave it on for however long you wish (I always tried for 30 min.) shampoo as normal (no repeat), but you may not need a conditioner.

my favorite is from JASON Cosmetics (it's a good buy, the bottles are big & the conditioner is REALLY Thick!) but Sundog makes shampoo, and there is a salon brand Alterna (I’ve been less impressed with their products, too expensive) there are several others that I have yet to try, Rain Water, Around the World. Check your local health food store to see what they have.

here's just a note about hemp:
Hemp seed oil is the most perfectly balanced unsaturated natural EFA (Essential Fatty Acid) oil in the world. It contains both of the essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and Omega 6) and GLA (gamma Linolenic acid), which make it an excellent natural emollient and moisturizer.* Body care products containing hemp seed oil can reduce skin discomfort by soothing & restoring dry or damaged skin and increasing the natural moisture retention capacity.* With regular use, body care products containing hemp seed oil can help slow down the effects of skin aging and leave the skin smooth, soft and moisturized.*

Clinical studies have shown that skin care products containing Omega 6 fatty acids can reverse dry skin.* The anit-inflammatory properties of essential fatty acids can further aid in the healing of minor skin abrasions and acne.* A deficiency in Omega 6 fatty acids is also associated with eczema and psoriasis due to the regulation of water loss through the skin. It also helps control dandruff & scalp itch.

Hemp is awesome stuff!
I used the Jason Cosmetics Hemp Shampoo and I like it, but because it does not contain Lauryl Sulfates it doesn't lather up much and is kind of hard to get through my hair.
Jayell....thanks for the tips on the other brands. I'm going to seek those out at other health food shops!

I have also tried Alterna shampoo and conditioners. They have hemp seed oil in them and they come in colorful bottles. I love them! I have even seen them in Carrie's shower on Sex and the City! Try em, you won't be disappointed..

greatfull, try adding a little water to your hair next time if it's hard to work thru. sometimes when I have alot of gel & stuff in my hair I have to repeat. I just saw anouther brand the other day, it's called Body Dope, I think. I want to try the line that Sally's Beauty carries next ( I can't remember what's it is called)
