not many, but once this hairdresser cut my neck line at like probably a 45 degree angle! I had to go the next day and get it straightened up.

I have 2. One is from about 10 years ago. My uncle is a beautician, and I went to him for a TRIM the day before my best friends wedding. I was the maid of honor. Anyway, he cut my shoulder length hair to chin length. I didn't even want to be in the wedding. If she hadn't come over and begged, I probably wouldn't have shown up.

Now for today. About 2 months ago, I had about a foot of hair cut off. It had grown back some, and the layers were looking ghastly. I have naturally curly hair. The stylist I usually see wasn't there, but I thought how hard can it be to cut and style my hair? The woman cutting it took forever. And then she dried it. I looked like I had stuck my finger in a light socket. Frizz everwhere, and it honestly looked better before she even touched it. She kept saying it was because my hair had natural curl. I left in tears. Sobbing. My daughter just kept saying over and over how much she loved me. Which made me cry even more. I drove over to another salon that is beside the place I tan. I walked in the door, they took one look at my hair and my face, and got me right in. She had to cut it to chin length, but it looks beautiful. No frizz anywhere. I tipped her well over what I usually do, and gave her a hug. From now on, I'll go to no one else.

I hate when that happens to people. When people don't get what they ask or pay for!

Well, I'd sworn I'd never get it cut short, but it honestly looks fantastic. And the hubby REALLY likes it. His jaw hit the floor when he first saw me. And apparently I looked like crap before, because I got several compliments at our soccer tournament. Even his salesmen kept telling me how great it looked. I thought it looked good before. Kinda makes you wonder.......

It's not really a horror story.....but....I have naturally pretty straight hair and right now I'm growing out that old big bang thing to just a few wispys...so I have all of these awful layers...my hairdresser and I decided maybe a perm would give it some body and help me through this growing thing. so about 4 weeks ago I got a perm.....now I have straight hair....lol....it did absolutely nothing!!!!!

I have SUPER short hair (anywhere from 1-3 inches at any given time) and I always get layers put in with a razor. I was in a huge hurry so I went to a Supercuts on my lunch break instead of my normal place. Apparently this woman didn't know how to use a razor (but said she did) because she cut way into my hair and I ended up having a whole patch of hair right on top of my head that was only 1/4 inch long. I was so mad and she kept telling me it looked fine. So I had a fit in the lobby until I got my money back. I went to my normal place the next day and they ended up having to cut my hair even shorter than normal...it's been growing for 4 months and that spot still looks kind of weird.

Shauna23, many hair stylists do not seem to know what they are doing with a razor. I'd make sure they are very skilled with a razor!

Well, I can't get my hair to look like what it did when I first left the salon. I should have been born into a filthy rich family, so I could have my own stylist every morning.

Sunbunny, I know many people who would concur with that statement. I can never get my hair to do exactly what my stylist gets it to do. Which is what it is supposed to do.

sunbunny
05-12-2003, 12:37 AM
Maybe I should change that to I should have been more ambitious about my degree and what I could do with it, so when I got older and my hair decided to do it's own thing, I could afford my own live-in stylist.

Wanna hear something really dumb? I want a motorcycle, but one of my reasons for not getting one is my hair. Even with a shell, I'd be scared to take it off in public. It will be years now before it'll be long enough to just put it in a ponytail.

Miracle Grow?

I don't know how some women do it. I see them all the time in Myrtle Beach. They're riding, not a hair out of place. Not even a smudge in their lipstick. I know what I look like after doing 70 on the back of a bike. It ain't a pretty picture. I can just imagine what I'd look like in the front doing the driving without anyone to block the bugs.

When I had my jeep, I'd use something called liquid cement? or hair cement? can't remember now. Not a hair out of place at 70mph for 170 miles. BUT, I didn't have to wear a helmet. I could trailer a bike and only ride it in SC. But, I like my brains right where they are. I'd probably be one of the few there wearing a helmet. My son wants a dirt bike, so I have to set a good example. I'd freak if I ever caught him without one. And that's on his bicycle.

But I don't want to scare young children!!!! And I probably would, now. I'll have to use T's bike helmet and wear it a couple of hours to see what I'll look like.

Ok this one time I worked at a hair salon as a receptionist and the hairstylists in training..needed a volunteer to perform a style on..don't ask why but I volunteered being the nice person I am..
So here is the thing I have very very thick hair so I have to be very picky and choosy with the styles..and they decided that I needed bangs and they cut so many of them that when they were done..my nickname became sausage because it seriously looked like someone laid a sausage across my forehead....I still here cracks about it...
I will never ever cut bangs again..it was a very tramatic experience

When I lived out near Chicago in 97 I went to Supercuts. I had all one length hair, almost to my shoulders. I went in and asked for a chin length bob, still all one length. I ended up with ear length hair in layers! I was so upset! It took me like forever to grow it back out, and I didn't really ever grow it back out again to that length.
I had an at home salon story last summer. I got on a kick one night to dye my hair blonde. My hair is naturally medium brown with LOTS of red highlights. Well, I got some Maxi-Blonde stuff and went to work. After I was done, I had YELLOW hair and my scalp was totally irritated. I looked horrid. With my coloring, and my dark eyebrows I looked like a bad drag queen. Well, after a couple of days I went and got auburn dye in an attempt to color it back to normal. My hair was PINK! Pink with white spots in it. I even had to go to a job interview like this, since I needed the job badly (i was terminated from the previous position). I then called my salon crying. They got me in right away, and $115 later I was back to my chocolate brown. I have never tried to lighten again. It's dark brown or red and that's it!

Lets see, I was told by the owner of the salon to do highlights...blonde ones. But I wanted to be BLONDE!!! So, the actual hairdresser decided to totally bleach my hair and do all these different processes to my hair. After 4hrs...I had orange hair. I was mad, embarassed. OH ME, OH MY! lol So, years later after I had gotten rid of that salon, I finally have a hairdresser who does my hair right, but, I know my hair now.
I mean I have had green hair, orange hair, yellow hair. All to be blonde! Go figure! lol
I just like to experiment toooooo much! Thank heavens I know my hair now and what it can or cant take and how to treat it. *phew*

My first perm made me go in hiding and cry for 3 days. Can you say "poodle"?

i got a perm from a hairdressing school and needless to say they permed my hair and it was all frizz no curl then they cut it past my shoulders to get the dead ends off. so it ended up looking like an afro!!

I somehow decided, in about 6th grade or so, that since my best friend always had a perm, and it looked cute, I needed a perm too. No matter how much my mom fought with me, and told me my hair was too thick, I insisted. Finally, she gave in, figuring I'd learn my lesson the hard way. And I did. Very thick, all one length, just past the shoulders hair does NOT look good permed. I looked like a poodle for weeks. My hair was just out of control, all poofy and stuff. So to solve this, I thought I'd cut it off. Ummm, yeah, that was worse. The stylist cut it as short as a boys. I was already at that awkward stage almost all pre-teens go through, and the hair didn't really help. Another haircut I had as a kid, which I thought was cool at the time, and I shudder about now-- I basically had a mullet. Long in the back, short and spiked on top. What possed my mother to let me do that to myself, I'll never know. I'm salon phobic these days. The last time I went, it didn't turn out too bad, but the guy didn't listen to me. I told him, I need something low maintenence! I need to be able to wash it, dry it, and go to work. So, he gave me layers all over, that needed 2 different brushes and about 3 products to make it look good. Now it's just all one length, I trim it and color it myself!!!!

No horror stories yet, thank god. I always get scared though, I make sure they don't cut off more length than they have to, since I'm growing out my hair, and one time the lady was cutting my layers in the back, and I freaked out, because I thought she was cutting my hair short! I've gone to the same place since 7th grade (I'm a junior now), and they do a really good job. Regis Salons!
