I've tried several thanks to luvrotts, and didn't like any of them. No color change whatsoever. The only good thing I can say is that my skin was moisturized. I definately wouldn't buy a bottle. I don't think I even used up what I had in samples. Maybe for moisturizer.

I'd like to try some more lotions in this line. I've only tried 2... 1 I liked and 1 I hated....but no one around here sells it.

I am a salon owner. We sell a bunch of SUR lotions. Our best sellers are Florida Rays, Hemp Factor, Immediate and Copper Rays (has a new name this year but I still have Copper Rays). I will be glad to send you anything you want to try at my current retail price. Just PM me. SUR tingles are kick butt hot. If nothing 'tingles' anymore, you gotta try these. Hissy Fit is a cooling/tingle/bronzer. I tried this a couple of times and couldn't wait to get out of the bed. And I generally don't feel tingle anymore. Good products for us with GREAT Moisturization!

If a salon carried this line would the customer even know it? Does the label have Greg's name on it?

njchica
05-10-2003, 06:46 PM
the PL doesn't.... it just says "Manufactured for: blah blah blah Salon"

colorgod
05-10-2003, 07:02 PM
private label right?

njchica
05-10-2003, 07:22 PM
yes that's what PL means

thanks for informing me on your "lingo"

I was wondering how many people have used some lotion that is called "joes favorite" or "sunmanias goo" and not known they were using Greg's stuff.

njchica
05-10-2003, 09:40 PM
I've used Immediate that was PL'ed for Transformations.... but you're right. I would imagine that most people don't know that it's Soakin... but he does have a lot of people who carry his brand, too, right?

Why exactly do salons want or carry PL?

njchica
05-10-2003, 09:56 PM
colorgod, there are many reasons... all of which basically boil down to $$$--making money and protecting profits.

Rich
05-10-2003, 09:58 PM
Sometimes it is that they can pick their own mixture too. If they want the great bronzer hotter or not so hot you can do that too. Normally you can chose more for your own mixture on PL.

colorgod
05-10-2003, 10:10 PM
That sounds interesting. I'm always looking for a darker bronzer.

njchica
05-10-2003, 10:14 PM
colorgod, they don't get darker than Smoke Black or Ultimate Prophecy. Believe me, I've tried them all!

colorgod
05-10-2003, 10:21 PM
How about Theory, Chica?

colorgod
05-10-2003, 10:21 PM
Also, I've used Smoke Black, and I think Cherry Bon BOn is darker.

njchica
05-10-2003, 10:30 PM
I've never used Theory. I didn't think it had a bronzer in it. Aside from which, 1) the idea of such a strong tingle frightens me and 2) it's too expensive for a teacher's salary.

colorgod
05-10-2003, 10:31 PM
Yeah, I know about the teacher's salary issue. I'm glad I have my grad degree to boost my pay. GA pays pretty well, and the cost of living is relatively low in my area.

njchica
05-10-2003, 10:34 PM
the cost of living here is outrageous. 1 bedroom houses on postage-sized lots are selling for $200,000. they say that if you move away, though, you'll never be able to afford to come back. I could never leave the beach anyway.

Rich

Here is a question I might regret later. I hear a lot of teachers complain about the pay they get. Some of them go nuts over in fact. My question is this, why complain about it. You knew exactly what the pay was before you ever started college for teachers. Why complain about it? It is not like they tricked you into it. I assume people do it because they love it, like the options associated with it or some other reason. I also assume you made a conscious decision to teach in spite of the pay. Now, I already said I might regret asking but there you go.

I should add that my daughter is about 1 1/2 years away from getting her teachers degree. I don't think she is going to do it though, got disillusioned all on her own with the amount of paperwork and detail crap she would have to do and how little real teaching time she would have.

njchica

Rich, I actually have a degree in Biology. I didn't set out with a plan to become a teacher. And, yes, I knew in advance the pay scale... I continue to teach despite the pay because I love my job. There is never a day that I don't look forward to going to school to be with my students. I love the idea that what I do actually MEANS SOMETHING in the Grand Scheme--I am helping people's children to become better and smarter human beings.

Sure I'd like to be paid more, but not if it means switching careers and doing something that I hate for the rest of my life. Teaching science to children makes me happy.

Rich

I had a long talk with my daughter about his when she told me what she wanted to do. I wanted her to do whatever she wanted to do but I wanted her to go in eyes wide open. She understood the pay issues and accepted it but I tan a lot of teachers who are full of anger over what they make, to the point that I cannot see why or how they could get up every day and drag themselves into a job they hate so much. I pity the kids in their classes.

To me life is too short to do something you hate so much.

teaching anecdote: My classes have a end-of-the-year science project that they're working on. They all choose a famous scientist from a list and they have to construct "Wanted" posters about them. Like "WANTED: Charles Darwin--for the theory of natural selection"... they really get into it because they have to get "mug shots" and find out what "crimes" they committed.

anyway, on Thursday one of my classes was selecting scientists when I called on a student by the name of Matt. Matt was ready with his answer immediately--"Ms. Chica" I said "Matt, I'm not a famous scientist and I haven't done anything amazing that changed the world." He said "Yes, you have. You teach all of us science and that impacts OUR world." I almost cried.... and then I said no, he had to choose someone else.

sure a lot of teachers are angry over their pay.... but they aren't angry about what they do. I hate my paycheck but I don't hate my job.

Many teachers complain about their pay. I do not! I really enjoy my job, and my pay is pretty good. My bills get paid. I'm dating a physcial therapist, so if we were to "settle down" I'm sure we'd be comfortable.[ This Message was edited by: colorgod on 2003-05-10 22:14 ]

oh okay then it would be the same as what someone makes here.... but your cost of living is less....

i'm going to move this thread to the parking lot since we've effectively killed the original topic. hehehe

colorgod

Yeah, the pay is about the same, but for $200,000 I could get a nice 4 bedroom home on about 2 acres of land.

That topic was dead before we discussed teaching.

Well Chica, I did start out to be a teacher and wound up doing something completely different so we're opposites. I have a degree in special ed (learning disabilities) and I got burned out before I was done student teaching. No thanks. The paperwork demands along with all the other responsibilities just wiped me out. The thought of screwing up a kid just really scared me. Too much of a Type A here so I ran like crazy away from education.
