Do lamps get hotter as they get older? I bought a used 24 lamp 100w bed for home. The lamps make the acrylic VERY warm. Can this be because the lamps are old or do I just need to get a fan to cool the bed? I don't know how long ago the lamps were changed and they seem to have dark shadows in the lamps. Do I need to change lamps?

i have read on a site ounce if the bulbs are black on the ends that they are old and you should change them.i don't know how true this is. i guess i read it about a month ago or so.

Make sure the fans are working to keep the whole unit running cool. Excess heat will shorten lamp life. Dark ends do not necessarily mean the bulbs are dead, you need to meter them.
