I have really been lazy these past few months. I have been keeping up with my tanning but slacking with regards to exercise. I have started taking a multi-vitamin as well doing some crunches and working out. What is the fastest and easiest way to lose say between 5-15 lbs? I am hoping to atleast lose 5 by mid august, when I have to go to a wedding. Any suggestions or diets would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

A lot of people seem to be swearing by pilates as well as the Akins diet.

Of course the healthies way to lose weight is slowly and eating healthy, ...but I also wanted to take off the extra weight quickly for summer and I lost over 30 pounds since March following a VERY LOW FAT, LOW CALORIE diet and I do the Pilates 20 minute work-out every-day- Drink LOTS of Water - I pretty much ate fruit, lettuce, cottage cheese, veggie burgers- I had a bowl of Special K for breakfast- This is only a suggestion for short term dieting to take off the weight quick, and remember to take your vitamins.

running or jogging....... works like a charm. if you can't run for 5 minutes straight, then do 1 or 2 minutes of running and 2 minutes of walking..... work up to it.

Atkins diet!!! If you can you go without eating any sugar or flour for 1 month I bet you can lose that before mid august. I lost 50 pounds in 4 months. The first month I lost 25 pounds. Some say it's not healthy with all the fat you eat but the way I see it I was eating all the meat and fat anyway. I just wasn't eating the sidedishes. You have to follow it exactly, no cheating! It's many a meat diet. No carbs or very low. If you don't any carb you will see the weight fall off. If your interested I can give you more info. Good Luck!

Cardio exercises like Pilates or jogging/running and using some kind of kind of machine like a stairmaster or treadmill or elliptical, used 20-30 minutes a day, should get you there, especially if you combine it with changes in diet. Ladyboss pretty much has it down; weight loss that works involves a balance. A lot of people seem to swear by the Atkins diet, but that might be best if you're trying to lose quite a lot of weight. I always advise my clients that only building a good exercise routine into your lifestyle, along with PERMANENT diet changes, keeps the weight off for good!

Well, I finally got off my backside and started doing some weight training...I only do about a half hour, 2 days a week, mainly focusing on my upper body (aka: my problem areas) to try to get some muscle definition in my arms and chest....I've lost over 20 lbs doing Atkins (I wasn't really that overweight to begin with) but I do have a higher percentage of body fat than I would like...now if I can just start doing the treadmill I think I can achieve some good results by the end of the summer. So Andrea, just stick to a diet that works for you, be it Atkins or whatever, but the key is to stick with it.. just a little bit of cheating can set you back days!...and add some exercise that you also can stick with and 5 lbs. by August should not be a problem...

Atkins or some other high protein diet! And do the Pilates! Everyone swears by Pilates! And I swear by Atkins for diets!

I had weight loss surgery...I have lost 87 lbs. in 4 months. I know...I cheated. Let me say that I have learned so much about nutrition since then. To jump start your weight loss you want te eat 6 mini-meals of protien based foods per day. You need a minimum of 100g of protien during this time. I know it sounds like you would gain wieght but your metabolism will speed up if you do this. Also, drink at least 64oz of H2o a day...if you dont want to just stick to water,,try fruit 2 o or propel. You want to watch your calorie intake from liquids..it is really easy to drink yourself fat. Walk, walk, walk. NO Carbs....except 1 hour before a strenuous workout. No salad...no nutritional value to speak of and it will hinder wieght loss...protien, protien, protien....good luck

I love my Ab-Doer, I went from a 36" waist to 28" in just a few months. plus it's fun & you can do it & watch TV at the same time. but I haven't seen any 'rock hard definition (as advertised) yet w/ me or my hubby. I actually had to ban my hubby from it, because he was losing to much weight!! He got supper skinny, I could see his hip & collar bones (I wish I was so lucky) lol...I had to fatten him back up!

I dropped 25 pounds in about 2 months with Slim-Fast. Of course I was psycho motivated and basically had 2 Slim-Fasts and water for the entire summer, as well as running/jogging everyday.

I do alot of walking, drink alot of water and if I get real 'snacky' feeling I curb that by making a chocolate slimfast shake.
Here's the key:
Go for a brisk 20-30 minute walk first thing in the morning BEFORE you eat. Afterwards, have a protein shake (any type protein powder from GNC WITHOUT carbs!!!) Don't eat anything else for two more hours. Stay away from candy(sugar), potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, and fruit. Concentrate on lean meats (like chicken and turkey) and raw or lightly cooked vegetables. Do NOT eliminate fat from your diet, but make sure it is unsaturated fat. (I am 200 lbs with 5% bodyfat, and I my diet is 20-25% fat--your body NEEDS it!)
If you want to get obsessive (like me) you can do this also:
Track your calorie intake (and restrict as appropriate)
Use a heartrate monitor for your morning cardio.
Remember these two ancient Chinese sayings
1. "You are what you eat."
2. "Eat to live, don't live to eat."
There is a lot more to it than this...it is really about everyday lifestyle. Let me know if you have any more [specific] questions.
Good luck!

I quit on all sodas! Theres almost 200 calories in a 20 oz. bottle of pepsi! I drink only water and try to eat mostly fruits and veggies. A water diet has really helped me feel fitter.

If you're not already drinking diet soda instead of regular soda, start now and don't turn back. Of course, water is better for you, but I crave Diet Cokes. Also, instead of reaching for any bad-for-you snack, try a diet soda. It will hold you over for a little while.

I love the Windsor Pilates! It really strengthens your body. I also do not think the price was that bad! I also believe walk walk walk! That is good for you as well! I believe drinking the diet sodas are such a good alternative instead of the non diet! There is no way I would drink a non diet. That is such wasted calories! Good luck!
I recently took a Pilates/Yoga class. I loved it...I still can't get over how I felt afterwards...amazing! It can't replace good old cardio and weight training for me, but I would like to use it as a supplement. I'm going to try to get a video so my wife and I can do it at home.

Try Kickboxing and running. Weights keep your metabolism up for a while after you work out so they are always good.

Diet soda is not good for you. But some just love it anyway. I think it taste grose!
...but regular soda is worse!

I am lazy. I don't exercise. I do chase kids around at work all day, plus I have a two year old. I get some exercise that way. As far as eating, I usually eat pretty well. We don't eat a lot of junk, but usually I do when "the monthly bill" is coming.
I was vegetarian for like 3 years and I wasn't real healthy. I am hypoglycemic and I was having blood sugar attacks constantly. Now that I'm eating more proteins from meat, I am feeling much better. But, with these stomach problems lately, I don't know.
I applaud anyone that can do Atkins! It cuts out most of my favorite stuff, so I can't do it. I drink diet coke constantly, but I need to start drinking water. I need to break my Diet Coke habit.
I also discovered that I'm a Diet Coke-aholic last Friday when I was deprived of Diet Coke all day long. I dealt with this ridiculous headache until I got finished at the office and escaped to the nearest gas station.
I guess I need to scale it back to one or two a day!
