Hello everyone! I'm new and I need your advice! I've been having trouble tanning recently. I've tanned in beds before (2 years ago) and obtained dark tans. I've been tan before so I know I can tan. Recently I've been using sunless tanning products. Well, I started to tan again for a wedding and nothing is happening. I'm not burning or tanning. Nothing. I've used a variety of booths, beds...lotions etc. My back is tanned... but my arms, legs and feet are white. White. Nothing. I've been doing this every other day for a little less than a month and my feet should not be white. What's going on?? Am I immune to the sun now? haha...did the sunless tan mess me up? Maybe I'm just impatient!

The sunless tanner will not effect your tanning capabilities at all unless you use a SPF lotion the same day you tan. You may want to try a mild tingle like JA Melon Frappe or Dark Kickin' Ale if you are really desperate. Be sure to do a patch test before using them in a bed. Are you flipping over in the bed? If your laying on your back the whole time, that could be a reason why your back is tanner than the rest of you. That's all I can think of right now, maybe someone else has some thoughts?

I can't imagine why you're not getting some results. I'd agree, maybe moving up to a stronger lotion, trying slightly longer sessions in the beds, maybe laying out for a while each day....I'd try each of those first before trying something like tanning supplements. Likely you're just going through a bad spell for some reason. Stay at it and read some of the other threads on problem tanning; you'll likely find some kind of solution. BTW, welcome to the board!

My feet always take the longest to get color. Some parts of my body tan faster than others, but eventually everything gets brown and evens out. I'd try using a different lotion and just give it a little longer, I'm sure everything will brown up soon.

Do not combine laying out and indoor tanning on the same day. That will do more harm than good. Try some different lotions and even try some of the salon's different beds. Perhaps you are using the same one over and over and the bulbs may not be strong enough.
Also, take a step back and really evaluate whether you are pale. Some people tend to still view themselves as white even when they have a gorgeous tan!
Good luck!

Hi Bonnie, use of the supplements (the natural ones) is not mutually exclusive with any tanning activity or stage; you can derive benefit from them at any time. They're not a "last resort" product!!

I agree, Anya and PJ; I didn't mean to suggest they were "last resort". I started using them after I was doing everything else and had hit a plateau, so for me they were a last step. You're right, they might be a good idea for someone who's getting little color.

Jenna... Tell me about the salon you are tanning at? Are they busy, good reputation? No tan to me would indicate the lamps are either old, or you are using something which is blocking your ability... Lets talk about your daily routine (as in what products you are currently using to shower, moisturize, etc...) Also any medications that would interfere... And dont be afraid to ask your salon what their policy is on lamp changes...
