I have a friend who burns easily in a tanning bed but not the sun. She tans at a crappy place(Iwent with her today), they know nothing their beds need serious help, she's even called the maker of breeze to get help. She tanned for 10 min and burned pretty bad and now she is scared to tan in the bed. She set her min for 7 today but got out early because she was scared of burning again. Her questions are what tanning lotion should she use and how long should she start out without a base tan? SHOULD I YELL TO HIGHLIGHT MY POINT TOO?

if she burns that easiy you should start out possibly at 3 or 4 mins and move up from there whenyou are no longer getting any color from the time you are doing. do not tan everyday. and possibly find a new salon

I am trying to get her to check out mine because her's needs serious help. What about a lotion? I started out tanning at 16 min in a 20 min stand-up and with no lotion then HOT tingles, so I have no clue what advice to offer her except a new salon!

As for lotion, get her to try Drak 'n Dazed, Brown Envy, Green Tea, Definetly Dark, Swedish Hemp Cream, Drama Queen, or JA Melaplus. Those all seem to be good starting lotions.

My best advise is to get her to a different salon, but if she can't do that, then she needs to find out what her UV tolerance is (skin type). I am guessing she is a 2A or 2B, indicating she should start at 4 minutes, tan every 48 hours for a week, then move to 6 minutes the next week, 8 minutes the next week, etc. JA Melaplus is an excellent recommendation for a beginner and can be used as a moisturizer too.

ok, cool I have some of that that I can loan her, not a lot but it goes a long way. Oh the lamps in the beds there are only 100 watt lamps.

If they are not assisting with skin typing.. and she is burning as a result of their lack of knowledge.. I would find a new salon... No doubt about it..

I too recommend starting slowly and building up.. 4 minutes for the first week, 6 for the next week (if all went well at 4) and a minimal increase from their until she has reached her maximum potential.

As for lotion.. Well I usually like to see the skin for this recommendation.. For example for my lighter skin (Irish type) customers.. I highly recommend Cal Tan Ambrosia.. (Wonderful results, awesome smell)

Another good combination is Illiminate for the facial area and Ganja for the body (for light skin)

100w lamps are fine to build a base tan... If this salon has upgrade equipment.. I suggest she check it out when ready (I only suggest she wait b/c it seems they can offer no assistance what so ever.)

Strnghrt..is this the question you needed an answer to?

Therein lies the problem, she tans at a motel where she works. They have 2 base beds in dire need of attention. I've tried to get her to go elsewhere but this is more convienent. Personally I told her from the gitgo when I checked them out that they were old beds, needing new acrilics. So no upgrades and they know nada about tanning.
Yes Tiki this was my question.

Go to the Spray On forum and make a new post, you'll probably get more responses.
