View Full Version : RESPECT FOR THIS FORUM.

Please keep your squabling in other forums... If you guys really want help from the PRO's and you want to keep a forum for the PROS then please stop this. Our salons are EXTREMELY BUSY and it is hard to find time to get in here and answer questions.. All your fighting makes it really hard to get through a topic.. SO I ASK YOU TO RESPECT THIS FORUM and LETS KEEP IT ASK THE PROS... If the person asking the question did not want a PRO's advice then it would have been posted in another forum.... SO VERY LOUDLY AGAIN I ASK YOU TO RESPECT THIS FORUM... YOU GOT SOMETHING TO SAY >>> TAKE IT TO THE APPROPRIATE FORUM.

Well said TikiTan.

no need to yell. when i first joined, i didn't know to post questions in specific forums. i just went to "hot topics" and clicked on new topic and typed away. it dawned on me some weeks ago that posts by me and many others were often moved and the light bulb went off. tiki, maybe they just don't know.

boo, it isn't about putting the questions in the correct forum. It's about keeping the immature garbage out of this forum so our busy salon owners can find tanner questions and answer them in their limited free time. The nasty comments and arguing is taking over every forum, including this one.

I agree. I want to read the posts that have good information or advice and concern everyone in this forum, not the ones that are nothing but personal gripes everyone has with one another.

ok, I completely agree, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that was annoyed buy this. It seems to be everywhere unfortunatly. I tried to draw attention to this, but was accused of name-calling and pointing fingers (which was NOT true) oh well.

I don't think Tiki is yelling so much as just trying to highlight his point.

Respect for this forum would also imply not posting buy your lotion at www.xxx.com... HELLO? Do you guys really want our help? It is an insult when you ask me what to use then buy it online.. Training Costs $$$, You get my advice that I Paid for then spend your money elsewhere?

one question tikitan. and that is - WHO ARE THE PROS?

As I stated before I did not post a website address and my post was still deleted. Maybe that thread would be better off moved if you are going to delete everything. I do respect this forum, but do not feel like you respected us very much, and without your customers, which I am sure are people just like me, you would not have much of a buisness.
Remember that respect goes Both ways.

Yup! Tiki get over yourself, I posted a thread ASKING FOR HELP FROM "PRO'S" Tamar was the only "pro" who bothered to answer. The real pro's on this board are other tanners.

Great. Then post in the tanners den and leave ask the pros to those who want to ask the pros.

Well did she answer your question.. ? I actually work many, many hours at the salon.. And you guys have no idea how hard it is to spend time on this board.. But we are here, we make it when we can... You just have to learn patience.. I understand that the "tanners" can answer you within 5 minutes... but we may have customers in the salon or on the phone, we may have a bed acting up or need a relamp... I cannot just drop everything to get right here immediately...

The thread was not moved b/c the original poster answered that she wanted professional help, therfore those who were not offering professional help (but rather over the counter help) were moderated.

Next time I will post in the Tanners Den...I to thought the pro's were anyone who was a tanner and could give me advice by what they had already experienced. Sorry to everyone whom wasted their time trying to help me and got their posts deleted.

TikiTan, I may be completely wrong, but from the tone of your posts, I get the impression that you do not like this forum or the people who post here. Typing in all caps in a berating manner just seems inappropriate to me. As a fairly new member to this site, I did not know that there were salon owners out there somewhere answering our questions if we put the ? in the "ask the pros" section..I just thought that whoever was knowledgeable enough to answer the question correctly could post same. I do not know what constitues a professional tanner. I have encountered some salon owners who are extrememely knowledgeable and others who were not. I, like BriansBunny, will post elsewhere or ask my local salon owner questions for the professionals in the future if this is a problem here.

The ask the pros is moderated by Actual Salon Owners, Myself being one of them. My original post was in all caps due to my frustration of the forum.. 90% of the replies are not from any "Pro". It is hard to dedicated time where you are not wanted. Just think if you took time out of your day to dedicated to people you dont know and they were not only ungratful but just down right rude to you... Do you have any idea how much money I have put into training? Ask the pros should be just that.. Professional Tanning Salon Owners.. You disagree.. vote the forum off, or dont post there... Just understand that I may be answering your questions in between customers, problems, etc.. So to have to read through several uneduated posts is frustrating...

I am sure that you get frustrated. I get frustrated with some of the bickering threads too. As I mentioned a few days ago, I didn't know that users are supposed to go to the home page and choose a forum there. I was just reading hot topics and answering questions to the best of my ability based on what I have learned. Or asking questions. So I apologize if you or anyone else had to read something I posted in the wrong place. It took me a couple of weeks to discover this. So perhaps on the home page, very nicely worded, it should state that before you post a new question please choose the appropriate forum.

TikiTan

Agreed. Personally I stay out of the tanners den.. because it is just that. I respect those who do not use "professinal tanning salon" products, as that is your right. All I ask in return is respect for the pro forum.. Posts on products we do not sell, is very insulting. I understand that everyone is new to this. My caps were simply in frustration, not yelling at everyone.

This issue should be addressed soon, but even after we restructure this forum we will still have to ask for patience in answering questions. Ask the Pros clearly states "moderated by salon owners", which we do in the course of our day while running our salon(s).

This is a new message board and we clearly have some housecleaning to do. It will take cooperation from everyone to make this site the best that it can be.

I don't understand this, how can we know what products you sell?? Can you clarify....?

TikiTan
07-02-2003, 12:36 PM
Greta .. I mean companies such as California Tan, Formulated Solutions, Designer Skin, Australian Gold, Swedish Beauty and there are many, many more... Indoor Tanning Products that are not sold over the Walmart Counter, over the drug store counter, at the mall, etc.. I think you know what I meant and you simply like the turmoil.. I hope that I am wrong here.

Greta
07-02-2003, 12:37 PM
you are most certainly wrong.... if you would care to check my posts lately you would see that.... thanks alot for turning a simple question into an opportunity to insult me.....

Tamar
07-02-2003, 12:39 PM
greta, I'm sure Tiki was not looking to insult you. I have watched her (very informative) posts and can tell she is frustrated trying to wade through some of these questions. With a little housecleaning, this forum should become what it was intended to be in the beginning, a place to find free advice from salon owners.

Keep in mind that this website is in its infancy stages still; the end of our busy season, a trade show and other obligations have kept many salon owners from being able to participate much here.

Greta, apologies absolutly no insult intended. I am very frustrated. I am also the bulls-eye for many of the turmoil creators here lately.. Just have been defending myself way too much on here lately.

I simply focus on the ask the pros forum.. I just dont have time to read much in the others... So I was not aware of the type of posts you have made, Again Apologies.

Here is my take. I am sorry if the pros find it insulting that some people use wal-mart products. Life goes on. I personally do not use "over the counter" brands, and have NO intention of doing so. I am quite happy with the higher end brands, many of which I have raved about on this board. But not everyone can afford to join a salon AND buy the higher end lotions. I don't think anyone should be made to feel bad because they do and I do not see anything wrong with someone posting about LA Express or whatever. Speaking for myself, I will NEVER switch to the cheaper brands as long as I can buy the better ones. But this forum, I thought, was for everyone.

Questions about LA Express, Eurocrap, et al shall be moved to love it or shove it from now on. Salon owners do not sell those brands, that I know of, so discussions about them do not belong in this forum. This should help clear up some of the confusion.

Tiki, still haven't even read my question have you? Didn't think so. You'd think a person with so little time would spend their time more wisely than bickering with others. Like answering a question.

What question is it that you a referring to? (In this thread?) ...

Quote:You'd think a person with so little time would spend their time more wisely than bickering with others
This is exactly my point, I dont have time to go through all the banana boat, la express issues with you guys and all the bickering.. This is the reason I asked for respect for this forum.. so that I dont have to wade through all the bullsh*t to get to the questions..

Psssst you started the thread, just thought I would remind you. As far as the lotion issue well isn't that what salon owners are supposed to do? EXPLAIN?

Tamar
07-05-2003, 06:05 PM
Lotion is only one issue we deal with on a daily basis, and generally it would be the ones we would sell. The rest aren't even worth discussing. What WAS your question?

Strnghrt
07-05-2003, 11:44 PM
Tamar you are the only "Pro" that even attempted to answer it, I got my answers from other tanners and you. It was about my friend who burns in a tanner.

I see the "Ask the Pro's" forum more for the technical aspect of tanning. When it comes to lotions, tips and tricks of tanning, ect., I see those posts more appropriate for "Tanners Den" or "Love it or Shove It".
