Battling Fine Limp Hair
Struggling with fine, limp hair isn't easy. It turns out the less you do to fine hair, the better off it is. Anything that contains conditioners or styling agents just adds weight that drags things down. Consider a shorter cut and then color it. Hair color adds thickness to thin hair because it roughs up the cuticle, which creates artificially induced, but natural-looking, volume. Then all you have to do is use a gentle shampoo, period! The slight stiffness you get from not using a conditioner can also give you all the body you need. Give it a try. If you need to smooth things in place or reduce fly-aways, take an anti-cling sheet from your dryer and rub it over your hair. You can also spray a tiny bit of hair spray on your fingertips and work them through the ends of your hair. This may be just what your hair is looking for.

Well, now help me with dry, frizzy, damaged hair as I sit here with a plastic cap with leave in conditioner on, desperately trying to get some moisture back in my double processed, UV exposed, chlorine exposed hair. I have a recovery treatment product on the way from Biosilk I am desperate to make amends to my hair. My hair dresser won't even consider doing anything else to my hair processing wise until I get it in better shape.

what does the hairdresser recommend for you?

She recommends right now to let it grow out, especially if I want to take it to "Golden Apricot" which is what I wanted my next color to be (really a golden color). My hair will have to be lifted 3 shades to get to it and will have to be done with bleach. I already have heavy highlights on top of a darker red color and my hair is naturally a medium brown and my "rootage" is starting to become rather significant.

She said we could put something on it it tone everything down a bit that would still not be my boring brown until it had time to grow out and get healthy. I am really thankful though that she is just trying to look out for the best interest of my hair.

I use the whole Biosilk/Silk Therapy line...Rehydrating shampoo and conditioner, Silk Therapy, Repair and Shine, Silk Filler. Of course I CHI (straighten) it and I know that isn't healthy either but the humidity and my hair just don't mix.

I also use Redken's Anti-Snap but I am not sure I think that it helps.

Once the damage is done, can you really fix it? That's what I am curious about.

My hair is dry from tanning and swimming.... I use Pantene's deep conditioning treatment twice a week. I also apply a leave-in conditioner (Hair Repair or Life Preserver) before I dry my hair and again before bed. It seems to really be helping... my hair is nice and shiny again.

My hair is so damaged from coloring, tanning, drying, flat ironing. Poor hair! I have just decided to chop some of it off. Keep it short so I can keep coloring it.

Nioxin is great for fine, limp hair like mine. Pricey, but it really works.

My mom uses Nioxin and really likes it. I really do need to invest in some good shampoo and conditioner. Maybe next week!

I have been using Biologe leavein hair tonic, its a great leave in conditioner and it protects your hair from the sun and tanning. It also helps to prevent color fade and leaves your hair really shiny and soft.
