You're very welcome Thought it might help anyone that uses tingles..not just the new tanners.

Being the cynic that I am, I'm still skeptical as to whether tingles will actually make you tan any darker...(even the article states that there is no scientific proof that they work)...but I guess the only way to know for sure is to try them out...I'll just have to buy a tingle lotion and find out for myself.

Personally...I do see a difference when I use a tingle and when I don't. I only use them about every third session or so and then go back to a basic browning lotion.

Hyperion, you have never tried a tingle?

teresa

I personally don't care for tingle lotions......but I do use them every so often because I think I get much better results with them.

I guess I must have sensative skin......even though I really don't think so.....I stay red from tingle products for ALONG period of time......several hours. Don't feel the tingle alot but do have the redness for 4-6 hrs.

If I use SPY or Platinum Zero T4, I am red for the rest of the day.... well at least my legs are.

That was a good article - So now I'm ready to try a tingle lotion - Anyone have any suggestions for a first time tingler???? Thanks

Laurel

The two mild ones that I have tried are Spiked Butter by Cal Tan and if you want one with a bronzer there is Dark Kickin Ale by Emerald Bay and it only runs about $17. Let us know if you try one and what you think of it. Both of the tingles I mentioned are a Level 5.

Thanks Laurel - Are these products in the Salons or can I get them at a place like Sally's Beauty Supply? I've seen some tingle lotions at the supply stores but I didn't really pay any attention to them cause I didn't even know what they were for. I've been tanning for years and I have found out so much on these boards just in a couple of days!

These are available at a salon. I personally like Emerald Bay because I get good results for a reasonible price. I go to Sally's for my nail stuff but never checked there for lotions, so I'm not sure if they have them or not.

Hyperion

OK....any tingle lotion recommendations for a "tingle virgin" like me (but NO bronzers please)?

Hyperion
06-26-2003, 03:25 PM
...and please, something NOT in the stratosphere price-wise!

njchica

hmmmmm..... mild tingle, no bronzer..... I'd say Africa by Synergy....

Hyperion
06-26-2003, 03:38 PM
Well, I am very happy with Synergy's Brown Envy...so Africa is a definite maybe....

It might be wise to test a small area on the inside of your arm. If you get too red, try a milder one. If you see little to nothing, go to a hotter one.

Very good point!! Always do a spot test first to see how your body reacts to a tingle before putting it all over your body. Thanks Tamar!

Hyperion,
Try JA's solarium S, then A. They're mild (the S) to moderate (the A) tingles and they don't cost too much. Like others have said, try a patch of your skin first and buy samples to see if you really want to buy the bottle of the same product or not.

Hyperion, try Melon Frappe. It has a very mild tingle plus it is a cooling lotion. Great beginner tingle. I used it when I started back tanning this season.

I'm still new to this stuff so please can anyone explain is there a difference between reddening & Tingle if so what is it? advice would be appreciated as I'm getting more adventurous with lotions

I love the tingle lotions from JA. They use Oxygen Technology with all natural vitamins and botanicals to create the tingle effect.Their ingredients include Maize extract to increase cell respiration which opens your cells causing abundant melanin production,Natural Marine Chitosan prevents loss of moisture increases elasticity and grape seed Extract which is a powerful anti-oxidant that strengthens collagen fibers and promotes tissue elasticity. I do my homework because I consider my tan body to be a fortress of beauty and confidence!

do tingles burn fat? LoL, one part of that article made it sound like that. it would be so cool if it did... LoL.. that'd be a great lotion.. I've heard of lotions that burn fat.. they sell them on bodybuilding.com..

"burn fat while you tan" ..... sounds good to me.. LoL

TucsonTootsie

Sorry, but to my knowledge the only thing that burns fat is good ol' fashioned excercise, in any way, shape or form...like walking to your car to go tanning (lol).

but its still a good idea ...in my opinion LoL

I'm actually scared to use a tingle product because of my sensitive skin. Should I buy a small amount and put it on a patch of skin instead of all over? Before I read that article, I had no idea what any of you guys were talking about when you mentioned "tingle lotions". Thanks so much for the article Laurel!! It was incredibly helpful for the unexperienced folk like myself!

This seems like an awesome thread for newer members and senior members alike, I know MANY of you LOVE your tingles....
I generally use lower tingles myself, but I have tried Goddess, that'd probably be my highest tingle I've used...

That was a interesting article...I myself have never tried a tingle, although i'd like too... I got one as a sample but it says for experienced tanners only and that its "sizzling" so I better not try that as my first, huh? I've heard about a mild tingle called spiced almond or something like that...what is that one again? I forgot the name..

Ive still never used a tingle. Im kinda afraid to. I know not to put it on my face but if it makes you red and itchy then I dont know If Id like that. How long does the redness last? If I were to buy one Id try Melon Frappe. You guys have said its a low tingle and works well.

I love tingle lotions but I'll admit it took some getting used to.
