Okay, I have to try this now, but I have to wait until it is a non-workout day and a day that I don't have to shower for a while, which will have to be Friday. Can it really make me that much darker? I'm practically black now (tanorexia in remission momentarily, or perhaps because mystic will cost me money!)

yes, it can *really* make you darker.. especially if you're already so dark

Of course you will get darker is you apply a sunless tanner after tanning in a tanning bed! DHA alone will make you tan, so why not skip the tanning bed and try the mystic booth alone? Seems like that could save your skin from aging.

Boo, let me know what happens; I keep moving towards doing a Mystic and always back away; I'm a wimp, but you know I'm at the same point as you are. Keep us posted!

I get nervous when I here Mystic tan...I had a problem with it last year when i did it for prom. I had major streakage down the back of my legs. Thank the Goddess that I had a long dress for prom! But let me know how it goes! Maybe there's been some improvements?

Linn, I don't want to skip beds and switch to mystic tans because they are relatively expensive. I've just read on here that ppl who tan, then go straight into a mystic tan booth look really dark!

I gave the Mystic Tan some thought - I went to go try it and watched the little video, but I backed out and went in the bed instead. I'm nervous about ST's because of streaking and the fact they can sweat off or come off while your swimming, Maybe I'll give it a try when its not so Hot outside and don't have to be in shorts or bathing suit!

Ladyboss......once the solution is absorbed (over the period of a few hours), there is nothing on the skin's surface to wash off or come off while you are swimming....spray tan isn't a paint, but a chemical reaction between the skin and the DHA. If it is applied by someone properly trained with good equipment, there should be no streaking at all...

Does it dry immediately? (i.e. do I need to wear a potato sack/loose clothes when I am done?)

Solution is normally dry to the touch within 10 mins if applied properly. We recommend loose fitting clothing, it isn't unusual for some lotion to rub off onto clothing but it doesn't affect the tan unless severe rubbing takes place. If the skin is properly prepared (exfoliated, properly moisturized) the solution is absorbed better and quicker. The lotion is water based and washes right out if it gets on clothes.

Nixster - I know what st is - and I know if you go into chlorine with it it will fade off and can leave you streaky - you really do have to limit yourself, no hot tubs etc... I have been using st on my face for a while and I have to re-apply every 2 days. A few years ago I did give the whole st thing a try and they just never look natural or real even- maybe the mystic is better, and I am still thinking about trying it after my next tanning bed session, I just hope it doesn't turn my tan a strange color.

they say to tan for 10 minutes right before the mystic because it opens up your pores and the mystic will stay longer.

Ladyboss.....allow me to clarify my earlier post. A natural DHA based tanning solution is clear, with no pigmentation. Once the chemical reaction has taken place between the DHA and the skin, no amount of chlorine is going to remove it. Only natural exfoliation of the skin will make the tan fade. However, most tanning solutions have a bronzer in them that IS pigment and can come off, and that is probably what you have experienced. Our company (click the www link) offers both clear and bronzed solutions. I'm not sure if you have the choice of solutions in the Mystic, the U.S. is a new market for us. Of course, some areas of the skin require lighter applications than other areas for the tan to look natural, so you might want to try a properly trained airbrush operator rather than a booth.

Scout.....not recommended that you attempt to open the pores before spray tanning....the DHA tends to exaggerate open pores, and can look 'spotty'.

Hitting the bed before spray tanning won't hurt, it can only help, really- you'd be getting the benefit of two systems....my only concern was the deliberate 'opening of the pores'- one has to be aware that spray tanning can sometimes exaggerate open pores such as spots, zits, etc.

So, say you're going to do that, do you still pust lotion on before go into the bed? Because lotion can mess of the color of some self tanners.

the only lotion that would mess with it is something oil based but generally oils are not allowed in tanning beds so there would be no problems

I was told if you tan in the bed before you mistic that it will make you alot darker, i have done it and it really dose work .tanning first they says opens yours pores so the mistic looks darker.

I did the mystic last summer, tanned first then did the mystic. I cannot remember if I used any tanning lotion when I tanned though. I got a really nice color from the Mystic , lasted about a week and no streaking and it looked natural on me . I may do it again this summer , depends on how much extra money I have.
