this is by Eric Dann of Formulated Solutions.... he is talking about a woman who felt that she was not tanning any darker and was, in fact, losing color... it lists a few key ingredients to watch out for when trying to build and maintain beautiful color...

Mock-like hypo-pigmentation can also be caused by use of OTC skin lightening creams, (here is the take home interesting point to remember) many of which are not directly labeled as skin lighteners.

A few of the ingredients that have been shown to lighten the skin are Diacetyl Benzoyl Lathyrol, Hydroquinone (most common), Triticum Vulgare (wheat) Germ Extract.

What she was using was a product called Night Reform, which was like a double edge sword because it container not only the Triticum Vulgare (wheat) Germ Extract, it also contained Glycolic Acid.

Not that you can monitor every product that your customers use, but this was a good example that you may be able to share with someone when trying to explain why Daily Hydration moisturizers, facial lotions and body washes sold in the salon environment are not the same as products purchased over the counter at your standard food and drug retail outlet.

What I would like to know is why a tanning lotion would have alpha hydroxy acids (or betas) in it. Why would we want to so quickly exfoliate the tan we are trying to achieve? Makes no sense.

Boo, which tanning lotion are you referring to?

i heard that the alpha hydroxy is good because it allows the layers underneath to be tanned. i don't particularly care with or without it so i am not positive.

STOP USING YOUR FULLY LOADED!!! Found that it has licorice abstract in it which inhibits the tyrosinase activity of the melanocites..inhibiting UVB absorbtion..less pigmentation...im not using mine anymore..it is a skin lightening agent..too bad as it was a great moisturizer..

I wonder what is up with that!I have seen titanium dioxide which is a natural spf in a few tanning lotions.I would hope there is a good reason for it.
