I have been reading around on this forum and have learned quite a bit- but still have a long way to go. Thanks to all who have contributed!- On to my question(s)!:

I would like to purchase a home unit that runs on a regular 120v power (is this a bad idea?)that will give good results in the $2000-$2300 price range. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also have a link to a bed I was thinking about purchasing. Any specific comments about this bed would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

have you checked out the wolf system beds? They have great prices. I have a sunpro 14 se that runs on a 120v. It's small only 14 lamps but I have upgraded lamps and my bed works great. I don't think they make these beds anymore. You probably can find a 24lamp bed that runs on a 120v.

Thanks for the response- I am just a little skeptical about the quality of the home units- but would really like to go in that direction if they are indeed effective. I am not looking for the "best" bed- as I know how expensive they can be. I will probably go with a 24 lamp bed if I can afford it...I also want to make sure the 120V wall outlet doesn't somehow reduce the output as to make it useless. That is why I would really like to hear what others who have this type of bed think!

I have a pro 16(16 lamps) by wolf system i have had it for several yrs now and just love my bed I did up grade my bulbs to the "bronzing bubls" these home best are great if they were not I would have gotten rid of mine,I have a great tan like every one on here like to be darker and I can but here lately I have not had the time but yes the home beds will work just as good as the ones in the salon it make take a little longer to get the tan you desire but they great and besides you can tan anytime you want to when you have your own so dont worry go and order one but I suggest the wolf system over any of them jmho

David,
that bed looks very good for a home system but I would definitely run that bed on its own circuit. 24 100 watt bulbs = 2400 watts and I just can't fathom how 20 amps will supply the current to push those bulbs. Hmm, it will but barely. We have the wattage: 2400 watts (for the 24 100 watt bulbs), not counting the motors or ballasts / starters. We have the voltage: 120 VAC. P(watts)=V(voltage) X I(current) 120V X 20 Amps = 2400 watts. The bed will work barely with a 20 amp circuit. I would strongly suggest wiring a 25 Amp circuit for that bed, otherwise you will be resetting that circuit breaker every couple of minutes
So I would suggest its own 25 amp circuit.
That particular bed would present a very low resistance of 6 ohms to the circuit which would be just shy of a totally short circuit ( 0 ohms of resistance )!

Have you looked at this site:
http://www.mastertanning.com
They have the SunQuest pro 16se for $1599.00 and the SunQuest Pro 24se for $1999.99 if you purchase one you get to buy lotions from them for wholesale.
