Now that we are in the peak of prom season, what do you do during the wait? Does your salon have magazines to read? snacks to eat? TV? what do you do while you're hanging out waiting for the bed?

I usually wait outside and make calls on my cell phone. I don't like to use it in the car so this is a good way to avoid that.

Talk to the workers or random people (I'm just really talkative), read magazines, go through my planner and set my brain in order, or look at the new stuff they have!! Pretty basic! I rarely have to wait though...

Thankfully I go first thing in the morning before all the kids get out of school!

I rarely have to wait except on a friday morning or on a weekend and then it is less than about 5 minutes so I just sit there and talk to the help or drool over lotions I would love to get. ( granted if money grew on trees.)

I usually don't have to wait, but if I do wait I just talk to the owners or whoever sitting there.

TanPimp

I usually just sit there pi$$ed off at the 10 people in front of me who aren't even using lotion so the tanning bed won't do them 1 ounce of good

TravisMT81

not really, they try to get me into my bed or an upgrade.

At the salon I frequent, they are just past the peak season. They take walk-ins only, and no appointments due to the fact they have about 20 or so beds and 1 mystic tan booth.
From late February to late April, they are busy and there is normally a queue of people, especially in the afternoons and evenings. Now that the town's college is about to let out and the college students move away, the salon won't be so busy. So to get around that problem, I usually go late, like an hour before closing time or early on my days off.
I don't mind waiting and like Scout said, I might talk to somebody but I'm usually bashful so they have to talk to me first . I usually talk with the salon workers. Heh.

I usually dont have to wait but if I do I am entertained by watching the owner pierce bellybuttons or eyebrows!!

I usually set am appointment but sometimes have to wait. I always carry a magazine or book to read, just in case.

We have people that wait when we are busy like right now. They all just come in at the same time.

Levi
05-10-2003, 04:23 PM
Whenever they want would be the best choose.

I do the same thing. There's only one base bed with the reflective bulbs. I always wait on that one if I"m not upgrading!

my salons only got 2 mega beds so im always walking in praying theyre free, they usually are though, hence why i upgraded... less wait, and al those girls who started tanning to late for prom can just sit there and wait for their 5 min session in the base bed, only to come out burnt, there such a rash of burnt HS chicks in my city... theyre all dumb or something and think that burning is cool... like im pretty sure the salon tells them its not a good thing to burn but they dotn listen...

and this is why i think that teenagers shouldn't tan... cus they think they know everything, i truely wish they understood how bad burning is for their skin.

With two little ones at home it is either the first session or last session. With 30+ beds, come to think of it, I don't even think our wonderful salon, SOUTH BEACH TAN, ever has a wait.

Anya1976
05-21-2003, 05:54 PM
my salon has 25 beds but they only have 3 base beds at the moment (they used to have 4 but one has been broken down for ages) and everyone always just wants to do the base beds so if the wait is too long and i have extra cash i do upgrade.

05-22-2003, 10:39 AM
I usually don't have to wait long. I go to a bigger salon, they have many beds so if I do have to wait it's only for less than 10 mins. The place where I go has nothing to do when you wait, nor do they have music when you tan.. they are a little big for their britches.. I've been thinking of looking for another place.. I see all these perks that everyone gets here, I'd like to get some myself.. They have no customer appreciation!

I usually talk to the girls! or upgrade if it's available! Who am I kidding I upgrade anyways! Depends on how long the wait is! I might just roll to anouther location!

nikptbo
05-22-2003, 01:18 PM
my salon can be retards sometimes though, like once when i was first starting my tanning in a salon and it was busy they asked me if i wanted to upgrade(even though i didnt have my base tan), luckily i was smart and said no..

I agree emyloulou I either talk to the person working, help fold towels and such or upgrade and get right in and out, or else call one of the other stores and see what the wait is like over there! I've seen people start to put lotion on their legs while waiting so they can pretty much just hop in the bed and push the timer when their name is called.

I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes, so I just talk to either the people around me or the workers who are always nice!

I had to wait for about 10 minutes tops, Just talk to others waiting to tan or check ot the ltons ad see what they have new!

I think the best thing about waiting for a bed to come available is being able to read the new tanning magazines that my salon has laying about. I also check all the lotions that they have stocked on the shelves, to see if anything new has been added since my last visit. To me, walking into a tanning salon is like walking into a candy or toy store.... i could look all day and just browse through all they have to offer!

I usually dont have to wait, but when I do, I chat with everyone!

It is still the salon's responsibility to not allow burning! I do not allow staff to increase time by more than 2 minutes, I don't care how mad the customer gets.

I usually don't wait. I try to tan in the morning when it's less busy and everyone is in school.

palefacegirl
06-22-2003, 11:17 PM
I hardly ever have to wait, less than 10 min if I do. Like everyone else I spend that time talking with someone or checking out the products to see where i will spend my money next.

StarryEyes
06-23-2003, 03:34 AM
I usually wait 25-45 minutes and I spend my time alternating between watching the Mystic tan video with no sound, looking at the pretty blue wall, reading my mom's magazines over her shoulder, staring out the window, or making idle conversation.

mmclean
06-24-2003, 07:06 PM
25-45 minutes?!!! Are you kidding? Does your salon take appointments, StarryEyes? That seems outrageous.

The salon I'm at now, I joined in August so I've never had to wait for a bed, I usually go in the morning when they open. During prom season I was at another place and it was really busy and there was usually always a wait for a bed so I would usually just go next door for a cup of coffee- I never had to wait more than 15 minutes.

Val
11-12-2003, 11:39 AM
I don't think my salon takes appointments. I've never had to wait for a base bed but yesterday both the s-classes were busy and I would have had to wait but I did the sunboard instead
