Have you, would you, or are any of you thinking of doing this?
If you have... what was your experiance like? As painful as I would imagine?

yep, I've done it twice. It definitely hurt but it was tolerable. I wasn't impressed enough with the results to keep doing it though. I think I expected something spectacular or exotic, but it was really just annoying when the regrowth started.

I used to do them all the time.....did and still do a lot of them for clients now...as well as various other "deep south styles"....the first few times can be painful....but I think it depends a lot on YOUR pain tolerance as well as your skin type, hair growth and hair texture itself...the further/deeper you go in with waxing the more tender and sensitive that particular area is. You also HAVE to be tenacious in the upkeep.....it can be harrowing when its growing out and its not very attractive sometimes either.....if you tend to have issues with ingrown hairs you have to be nearly militant on exfoliating the area(s) I still have a lot of clients who go all out with different "styles" and others who prefer the basic bikini, however most of my clients now are opting for laser hair removal. I havent waxed/shaved my own underarms, or down south for over a year and a half and its wonderful!! I cant do my legs till the winter season cuz' I GOTTA tan, so I still wax my legs for now! LOL~ pppssssttt....I have a few male clients who come in for bikini and deeper south waxes too! =-O

I've never had it done. I've had my legs waxed, and that hurt. The only thing I get waxed now are my eyebrows. I'd probably scare off customers with my screaming and all if I ever had a brazilian done. I even cry when they do my eyebrows.

Ouch! I have never gotten the Brazilian done.. The only thing I get done is eyebrow wax and I'm getting that done again on friday. I have contemplated doing legs but my waxer advised against it. Said it would take forever to grow hair long enough to wax. I shave it all "down south" though and I would recommend it highly. Pain free and it doesn't grow back for 1-2 weeks. I shave everything once a week and have slow hair growth..

I personally like the brazilian wax. I get it done every 3-4 weeks. No shaving, no itchy stubble, no worrying that your going to slice open your ummm . Its like getting your brows waxed, annoying but tolerable.

it definitly depends on these things plus the wax that is used, how the strip is pulled off, if the esthetician applies pressure afterwards... Quote:

Um....I have a question about this....do you have to let the hair grow out a certain amount before you can be waxed, and if so, how much??? I've been shaving and my bikini line does not like it one bit.

Beleive it or not I actually tweeze. Hair doesn't come back for weeks.

Mia2White
07-11-2003, 03:01 PM
camarolynn, are you serious?!?! That's kinda funny, because last night I was tweezing a couple of ingrowns (this is a kinda raunchy thing to talk about, isn't it?!), and the thought ran through my mind about tweezing it all. The thought was quickly dismissed, though, because I don't know about you, but for me that would be a heck of a lot of tweezing. Do you apply Bikini Zone or anything afterwards to soothe the area? Let me know, I might give this a try!

camarolynn73
07-11-2003, 04:05 PM
I tweeze my bikini line and there are no bumps. No need for Bikini Zone that stuff is mainly for pain from irrataion of the bumps.I use to use it when I shaved.Just wacth for ingrown hairs. It is alot of hairs to tweeze but you don't have to do very often. What about all the time and mess you put into waxing and you have to wait until the hairs are long enough to stick to the wax. Yes I must be weird but it works for me and I always have a smooth looking bikini line.

Tell us more! I guess I might be the closest to understanding it because I have a piercing and a small ring in my outer labia. Are these the same kind of thing?

Mia2White

Bonnie, my friend...I gotta ask....does that small ring ever get in the way or get caught on anything?

I must be old too...I don't know anything about these body gems.

I can't wax. It makes me break out something fierce I also can't use Nair or any other type of dipilatory cream. My parts turn purple! I shave the bikini area, but I would never go Brazilian. All I can think of is OUCH!

Hotty

I did the Brazilian a few times for shows, (i am a male dancer). It hurts. Badly. But it seems the ladies like it a lot, and it makes "that area" more sensitive so its worth it.

Mia2white,
You might want to try a different razor. I've never cut myself or gotten razor burn from the Gillette Venus. I do have problems with other razors.

Mia2White
07-14-2003, 04:03 PM
J74...I've tried different razors. In fact, the most recent one I used was Venus. I must admit, it was by far the best I've used, and I thought it was going to be a winner. But the burn and the bumps still appeared. So far, the plucking isn't causing any problem...just time consuming! By the way, you have some hot photos on your gallery too!

Bonnie...I'm not sure, but I think Sunnybunny's suggesting the person she knows with the piercing takes the stairs maybe because the ring rubs just right when she takes the stairs?

Mia, there is a shaving cream specifically made for this uh, area. Works like a charm. You can find it online or in any "adult" store.

Mia2White

Hey, I'm thinking I want to get one of those piercings too!!

mia

usasungoddess
07-15-2003, 11:47 AM
you can also get the adult shaving cream for that area at the adult fun parties as well. hey do you ever use the mens razor, oh the triple new one that came out a while back/ someone help me with the name but it is by gillette and is so good. it is like 8 dollars for a 4 pack. extreme something but you can find it easy by just going to walmart or something and you will see it. oh it is a mach 3 triple (thanks to my hubby).

Mia2White
07-15-2003, 12:00 PM
Yeah, I tried the Mach 3 as well. For me it's second runner-up to Venus. Still got the razor burn and bumps. I'm going to get some of the adult shaving cream, and if that doesn't work I guess I can assume I should not shave that area! Funny thing is, the plucking hasn't caused a problem...you'd think that, being more invasive, would cause more of a problem than shaving. I need to try waxing again. I used a "do-it-yourself" wax kit once quite some time ago...it was messy and didn't work very well. I'd like to try having it done professionally. Probably not in my budget right now, though!!

I actually did a body wax on a bet once. The cost of the session and $500.00 was at stake. A friend told me I don't take enough risks and just let my self go and that it was beyond my ability to something crazy. I lightened his checkbook and taught him a lesson on crazy! Would I do it again, no too much time. Pain, nothing I couldn't handle. I don't plan on wasting the money I went through so much to acquire...it's still in my savings account 3 years later!!!

I'm leaving for Miami in a couple days and need to be "worry free" in my bathing suit if you know what I mean. I normally shave but you can still see the little dark area where its supposed to grow back. I wish I could just get it all lasered off forever, its such a pain!

never2tan

For whatever it's worth, I only did it to lighten my buddy's cash supply a bit. After the area is waxed you skin looks like a chicken that just got plucked...sorry for the visual, that's how it was described to me. The smooth feel is hard to beat. I wouldn't suggest going to tan immediately after, your skin is electric after the fact and could get toasty. If you want smooth you'll like the results. Take some Advil or something before you go in, just in case in you have a lower pain threshhold than you expected. It's not a torture session so rest easy.

I'm sorry Ryde, I just thought this sig was one of a kind. It seems to hypnotize me every time I look at it. Its not meant to offend anyone or be an eyesore.
This forum is great. I dont post much because I just read a lot lol. I thought I would be laughed at for being honest about(being a male with waxed "junk"). I tend to get more of a burn when I shave, so that is what basicly lead me to the wax. But I will tell you, its a HUGE difference, soooooo smooth to the touch.

The chicken skin will go away, and you will enjoy the results. Again, I probably wouldn't tan immediately, the blood is still under the surface of the skin and could have adverse effects. Tomorrow you should be good to go. Not to keep harping on the subject, I agree this is a tanning site (but it is our skin we tan, and the subject asked about effects of waxing on tanning ability), let us know how the 24 hr tanning abstain goes, maybe I'm wrong about it

I use an electric razor down there and it works great, you can trim or take it all off. The razor is a professional one like the ones a barber would use on a guy. Funny thing, my husband LOVES to do it for me, so I let him. He has begun to get creative though and I never know what I will get till the end. So far it has been a heart, star and a diamond. As far as a brazilian goes, once is enough for me.

Girls have been enduring this kind of thing for ages Alex! Any of the clinicians will tell you to relax, none of us has anything they haven't seen before. They try very hard to keep you at ease while they do their job. After reading a few of the more recent posts on this thread, I will revise my advice of taking Advil prior to the session and prescribe hard liqour..Jack Daniels, Jose, or how about "sailing with the captain?"

The only thing I get waxed is my eyebrows. I would like to try having my bikini area done and my legs but Im gonna wait till summer. I dont think Ill get a brazilian bikini wax though. It would be nice to be smooth for longer but doesnt it suck when the hair starts to grow back? Youd have hairy legs in between waxings. Yuk! What do you put on it to sooth the waxed areas? Aloe? Shaving is fast and easy for me. Id love to get lazer hair remover but its so expensive.

I got a big smile out of some of these posts in this thread! I wax myself and have for years. Its much more private and I can take off as much or as little as I choose. Not nearly as expensive either. Once you learn how to do it properly, its just as good as salon waxing. I use hot wax too.. not the sugar stuff. I have a friend in Europe who taught me about it!

I love my Brazillian. If you all want to find a good waxer in your area you might want to check out the waxwaxwax message boards, its like this on os for tanning, but all about different waxing stuffs...go to www.waxwaxwax.com. Hope I font get edited Anyhow, before I got my first I had nightmsares because I heard all these bad things about the pain. It did hurt a bit, but it was more uncomfortable then painful, and it wasnt from the actually removal, its was the spreading of the wax...i guess b/c the lady I go to sugars not waxes...in otherwords she "Carmalized" me...lol Regardless of how painful it was, it was totally worth it!

I wax my bikini area now. I tried the brazilian, its ok. Not what I expected. The bikini area is much less painful.

I've had it done a few time before. It's not as bad as you think. (But this is coming from the girl who falls asleep when she gets her legs waxed). The trick with the brazillian is to shave the entire area, then go once a week so that the hair all grows back at different times. It's more tolerable when it's not all yanked out at the same time.

I get a "modified" brazilian, meaning as far as she can go without assuming the position : p I've never had ingrown hairs or even bumps and it is great only having to go every 3 weeks. I think the products used and techniques really do have a lot to do with comfort levels, so try someone a friend reccomends. As for pain, I just had my eyebrows done for the first time, that hurt WAY more for me. Between tanning, waxing, nails and hair I'm gonna need a 12 step program soon!

How much does a brazilian wax cost? and for those of you that pluck: how long exactly did it take you??! I'd do that if it doesnt take way too long.

I love my brazilian. It's worth every penny, which amounts to a little under 30 bucks.
