do you pamper your skin with facials?

I only recently had my 1st facial about a month ago.... and it made me break out. I know that is to be expected but STILL...

I love facials. They are so relaxing.Aveda Concept Salons incorporate massage & aromatherapy into their massages. They use the same skin care products I do at home so
there's no chemical warfare going on.Sometimes that can cause a facial to do more harm than good,I've heard.

I am an Ethestician and specialize in Laser Hair removal/Microdermabrasion and work at the Aveda Concept Salon here in my city. Often times its "normal" for a client to break out the first time if they havent ever experienced a facial. We do a full evaluation/assesment of the clients skin type and needs and based on that, we use what we feel will be the most beneficial for that particular person as well as the type of skin etc.....

I am sorry that you had to pay that much for a facial that broke you out but too, as I said, its not unusual if the skin is "virgin" Course too having an overzealous or new Esthetician can have a heavy hand at times too Or just icky products......

Did you tan after the facial by chance or even before? We always tell our tanning clients to NOT tan especially after a facial as the skin is "supercharged" and tanning can/does cause SOME sensitivy to the skin you wouldnt normally have otherwise.

Hope you dont get too discouraged....see if you can find a concept salon near you....being pampered can become incredibly addictive!! :):)

Dude,
We are talking about SKIN CARE facials...
As in European Deep Cleansing...Oxygen Facial, papaya enzime stuff...
not FACIAL BULBS or a facial tanning treatment...

Just wanted to clear that up for you...

Melty, you are sooo up on all this, amazing to see a guy that I would enjoy hanging out and talking "girl" talk with. I used to have a friend like that, I miss him. He lives 800 miles away now.

if you have oily skin....i suggest diy facials...such as egg whites or queen helene mint julep mask..because facials from a salon can really break u out if u have acne or oily skin........

that's too bad that you had a break out or that the person didn't explain what she was doing and what product she was using etc..
I get facials about every 2-3 months from the Aveda Spa and never had a breakout. Not even with the first one. My face just comes out glowing - makes me look years younger.
Kurt, they guy who gives me my facials always explains what he's putting on and why.
In fact, it's time to make an appointment.

I get a facial once per month. Its part of my routine. Every first Tuesday of the month. My skin has seen a dramatic improvment since I started getting them. I'm young already, but my skin looks younger than I actually am...I love it. That and I just hate the idea of all that stuff just hangin' out in my pores. I also go to an Aveda Spa. I think its also really important to put yourself on a good skincare regimen in beteen facials.

I have never had a facial and I was going to get one the day before my wedding. My friend (who went to cosmetolegy school) said that it wouldn't be a good idea, because I will break out. She said the whole purpose of a facial is to make you break out, because they are cleansing your pores.

I love to get facials. I dont get them often though beacuse they are expensive where I like to go. I think they are good to have beacuse they clean out your pores and give your face a good clean fresh feeling.
