Here's my ordeal. I am going to Hawaii in 7 days. I, being lazy as I am, didn't start going to the tanning salon to get my base tan until Wed Apt 30- I went for 5 min. (I'm a pale skinned red head who fries) nothing happened. I went Sat May 3 for 6 min - nothing happend. Monday May 12 8 min - nothing really happened. Some one at work told me to go every day. So yesterday I went for another 8 min *yes I kinda new what was going to happen next* so now I'm just a few shades red away from being lobster girl. Kinda stings but I've been WAY worse and will be if I don't get prepared for the 14th when I'll be on the beach. Of course while I'm there I'll be wearing a big hat on the beach and SPF 30-45 so I don't ruin my trip. I'll burn with sunblock on anyway so I thought I'd try to get some color. I have been using an accellerator (can't remember what kind but it does have a Kowala on the bottle) and in a "low" bed. Should I go for a few minutes today even though I'm a little pink in some spots? Maybe 5 min? or should I skip it and wait until Thurs or Friday? I'll be out of town this weekend and wont be able to tan until Sunday night. I leave for my trip next Wed May 14. (Kicking myself for not starting this sooner) Any suggestions? Please reply ASAP if you have anything to say. Thanks
Molly

If your red don't go back in until your back to your normal color. It will just damage your skin more. Your probably using an Australian Gold product. Just make sure to put on a moisturizer everyday, that will help your tan, and maybe get a UV repair lotion for your burnt skin. You cant really rush tanning.

Many skin types cannot rush a tan.. You are in that category.. Put it in your lessons learned folder.. for your next vacation. It takes about 6-8 weeks to develop a good "base" tan.. especially for a skin type II... Take it slow.. build your time up... Remember just b/c you dont "burn" does not mean it is time to bump your time up.. If you go 5 minutes 3x but continue seeing color your 4th visit should be 5 minutes....

Thanks Tiki - you know I knew about this trip for a long time and had orriginally planned on starting tanning 2 months before the trip - so I did have the right idea. I wish I could say it was a busy schedule that kept me from being able to go - but we all know 3 mins every other day really doesn't put you out that much. LOL yeah definately this goes in my lessons learned folder. Lets just hope the little goblin in my brain doesn't slip it into the lessons once learned now forgoten - for future vacations. I'm sure I'll be fine. In life - dealing with this lovely rosy skin type - I have leared too many times the hard way that I need sunblock sunblock sunblock! and to reapply often and to wear a hat and cover up as much as possible. Time slipped by me too fast. You should see me scrambling to get new clothes for the trip! hehe. But I'll probably keep tanning when I come back just to use up the minutes I still have, and this time I'll take it slow for sure. Thanks again.
