I was at Target looking for a lotion that did not contain mineral oil. What I found instead was a body butter that I love!!! That have mango, nut, and shea butter. The nut smells exactaly like coffee. Mmmmmmm, they are soooooo good and $10 cheaper than the Body Shop. I read the ingredients and there was no mineral oil but I don't know if what is in there is good. I have no idea about that kind of stuff. But, I used it and love it.
Ok, I need to modify this post. I had just been using it on my hands, feet, elbows, etc. Last night I used it all over after a shower it was hard to rub in. I ended up having to put regular lotion over it. I still think it's awesome for hands, feet, knees, etc. but I don't like it for all over.

who makes it?

I've used the Freeman Body Butters and I reeeeeeally didn't like them. They rubbed off in clumps.

I saw that too. Does smell good and no mineral oil. If it moisterizers good, I'd use it! I live at Wal-Mart so I see all the lotions you guys talk about here. Sometimes you can't always afford the salon stuff so what's wrong with a little savings if it works for you!!

I saw the Freeman ones, it isn't them. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow but right now I know the brand starts with a T. I wanna say Tree but I think that's way off. The Nut butter comes in a dark brown tub, the shea is in like a tan/peachy color, and the mango is in peachy/orange. If you like mango, the mango one smells exactally like mango; not mango perfume/lotion, it smells just like strait fruit. It's good also.

LOL @ chica. I still love my Freeman body butter. I have REALLY dry skin though and it absorbs well into it. It does take a while to rub it in, but that's okay with me! I will buy more when this tub runs out. I think it is especially good for feet and hands! To each his own. hehe

lol@LAV for her double post.. hehehehe which one are you using? I've tried all 3 and hated all of them... but I hate the Smoothing Pearberry one the least.

I have the Peach and Pearberry one. Love the smell. I want to get the vanilla next. I smelled it in the tub and like it. I don't think I would care for the blueberry one though. I have a facial cleanser that is that scent, and I wouldn't want to smell like that all day!

Well, incidentally we are looking to produce an after-tanning moisturizer, and we are looking at the following ingredients to use, either alone or in combination:

- shea butter
- mango butter
- cocoa butter
- hemp oil
- aloe vera
- vitamin E

Whichever formula we go with will have no mineral oil, propylene glycol, nor SD alcohol, and will have mostly vegetable source ingredients and excepients, so it will be as organic as possible. It will also have no artificial fragrances or colors, whatever fragrance/ color there is will be naturally derived from the main ingredient (e.g. cocoa, mango, etc.). We already have the base lotion formulation ready but are deciding on the emollient ingredient/s, so at this point I would really love to hear suggestions and/or comments on those mentioned. All input appreciated!

Thanks!

PJ

Just make sure it doesn't stink, PJ! As long as it's very moisturizing, and it sinks in instead of just sitting there and rubbing off in little yucky balls, I'll try it.

Yes, good point! Thx.

wow PJ that sounds really great. and i have to agree no rubbing off in little lotion boogers and not something that will stink. maybe something with a light scent i use the body butter from the body shop but my only complaint is the scent is so overpowering that i can't use it if i am going to put perfume on.

Agreed...light scent and light texture and consistency. Actually I think these two issues are already addressed, according to the formulationist at the lab the lotion will "absorb quickly with no greasy or sticky after feel...and will have a very natural light scent according to the main ingredient selected."

Still waiting for suggestions on the emollients list!!!!! Could be any or all, although I don't really want to go with a lotion that has a little of everything. Maybe 3-4 at the most. For example I'm pretty sure the aloe and vitamin E are going to be in, these are practically staples for healthy skin. For the others, maybe a combination of two?

Thx to all,

PJ

i would put all of that in the lotion i'd have to look at my fave lotions and see what common things are in them to suggest stuff

PJ, could you list the attributes of each one? I love all those ingredients.

LavenderFleur

Hi PJ, why would you not want to include all the ingredients? I think that would make a wonderful lotion! Make it a creamy lotion that rubs in nicely and definitely a clean, light scent. Scent is everything. LOL can't run around stinking! LOL Anyway, if I would have to choose from the ingredients, I would say the aloe, vitamin e, coca, and shea butter. I haven't had too much experience with the mango butter, although I have heard it is extremely moisturizing. Can't wait for the new lotion!!

I agree with Lav...Cocoa and Shea butter with the aloe and vitamin E sound wonderful.

I agree with both of the girls... Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E, and Aloe...

as far as scent goes, please pretty please if the "natural" scent leaves something to be desired, add some type of fragrance to it. I'd rather sacrifice the "natural" angle and have a good smelling lotion that I want to use.

I'm a hemp girl - so it's HEMP all the way for me. (although I do like cocoa butter too) I've been known to slather pure hemp oil on after a bath! & I'd do it more often if it wasn't so expensive. now I just use sesame seed oil. I mostly buy products w/ hemp because it works the best for me & I will not use chapstick if it doesn't have hemp in it!

I personally loved the Freeman Body Butters - the Vanilla Sunflower smelled good IMO. I noticed no lotion boogies as you all are referring to them. The Vanilla hand cream is pretty good too.

They don't smell like caca or poo poo or whatever.

I also love the mango by tree-hut. It has a very strong scent though.

I use the tree hut body butter. I love them. They have a very strong scent and I like that.It pretty thick but half way threw it gets creamier. Only $4.88 at wal-mart

I smelled the Tree Hut body butters. I think I would get sick of the smells. I liked the shea butter one, but it was so strong! Do they stay that strong or does it fade pretty quickly?

They fade pretty quickly

I got the Nut Butter today and I love it already! I like the scent, and it made my skin feel great! And, at $4.88 it's some awesome stuff I'd use more of!
