which is best for fair skin?

I hope someone can help me out with this...I have fair skin (type 2) and i desperately want to get a tan. Would I be better using the stand up bed or the lie down one and how long should I use it for until I build a base tan? I don't want to burn and i don't mind if the results take a while to show.

Most stand ups that I hear about nowadays have high powered bulbs and also command a high price. They're great for giving you an even tan (except for the feet). Base beds mostly have lower powered bulbs but nevertheless, you want to start out slowly since you're fair skinned and type 2. Most beds have recommended maximum exposure times posted on them somewhere readily visible.
I would say start out at 3 minutes and stay at 3 minutes until you cease to get results from that time and slowly increment your time by 2 minutes. Use the same routine as before...only up your time when you aren't getting any additional results.
If you up your time too soon, you will burn which won't be good .
You are wise for not wanting to get in a hurry and having the tan just magically appear in just a couple of visits. Slow and steady will win the race.
And for a lotion, start out with something non-tingle. Dark 'N Dazed is a good lotion and it's light on the wallet as well.

Also you may want to wait ever other day to tan. A friend of mine is fair skinned and she tried going back to back days and BURNT Also moisturize lots after!!! Have fun!

I have real fair skin to i would start out at about 3-5 minute and see how thats works for you. I would not use a standup til you have you base tan because it has stongerlamps in it.

I am fair and have just started back tanning again so I have to build my base back up, I have tanned 4 days at 5min and no red, so I will increase time by a minute or two tommorow

janey, you should talk with the Professionals at the salon for which bed/booth to use...for your base tan...
