Ok, I've got lots of questions about these. I think I've got the whole UVA/B thing down, but I've never tanned in a high pressure bed before. I normaly tan in a med. pressure bed w/ 2% burning rays, and then I started using base beds again with higher burning rays, and saw a big color difference. I upgrade every so often, back to the med. beds, but I really don't see a diff. So should I stick with base beds if I see more color w/ them than the med. pressure?
Are HP beds worth the $$? Right now the one salon here that has a HP bed is having a sale $99 for 6 - 30 min. sessions (norm. $30 a pop)
I've seen some lotions that are designed for HP beds, but can any lotion work? Do you have to use something different?

i have a package with the ergoline 600 and love it. it was on sale for 199.00 for 3 months every other day and i use like the bombshell and stuff in it. but i have learned using the bed every other day helps your tan and a lot of lotion as well. the hp is so worth it. i noticed within3 visits, so that is me but you may be different.

I can't beleive the prices on tanning.WOW!! $30.00 and then the lotion. You guys better be pretty darn dark. I love to tan but I'm happy being a light golden brown.

I have a routine where I lay twice a week in base or mid level beds and Once in a week in the Omega. I like to go to the Omega 2 days after I lay in the base bed. The color I get with this is excellent. I use X Power, but I will be trying a Tingle in the Omega tomorrow.

HP beds rock! You should definitely try them! They are the beds that got me really brown when I started tanning.

I know I've heard so much good things about them, and I would love to try one, but I just can't force myself to shell out that kind of money -I have a hard enough time w/ my budget! Maybe I'll try one out after I stop seeing so much color from the base beds.

What's the difference between a high pressure bed and a VHR bed? What does VHR even stand for?

High pressure beds have virtually no uvb in them so it's an extremely rare occurance if someone burns. You can go the full session. For those reasons, you can get a tan in alot fewer sessions. They tan you deeper than conventional lamps.High pressure is a term having to do with the way the lamps are manufactured.VHR is a type of conventional lamp.It has reflectors in it to help concentrate more of the light on the tanner. It is higher in uvb.

Ergolines are not true HP beds. They are hybrid or combi beds.

What are the brand names of some of the HP Beds?? I'm new to the tanning game, and just upgraded to a SunTech bed at the salon I go to...but I'm not sure if this is a higher pressure bed, or just a better quality one than what I was using before.

I DO know that it's a lot cooler -- has a fan built into the bed...no more tanning and coming out a sweaty-hot mess!!

UltraBronz & the Matrix are probably two of the most popular.High pressure beds have square purplish lamps versus long tubular lamps. The UltraBronz has a mattress you lay on & you turn over half way through your session.

as summers already said, Ultrabronz - there are 3 types (i think), the 850, Super Nova, and the new 950. Matrix has the L33 lay down and the Stand up (forget what its called). Also another one is the sunboard, but many people don't seem to like that one as much.

I used a HP once and it really did make me very dark for a solid week, and I think it made my maintenance tans in a regular bed more effective. Right now I am the darkest I have ever been. I tried the Matrix and loved it... Next I want to try the JetPower.

When I went to the Today's Image Tanning convention in Vegas this past June I feel in love with the Enthropy. It is a beautiful line and it comes in a hp standup and bed. It is amazing! I'll try to find a link and post it so you can check it out.

I may be wrong but I think there are more than three types of Ultrabronz. The 850, Supernova, 950, Eclipse and the Sun Jewel. These are the ones I have tanned in.
