Wierd Tanning Salons

Are there any salons anywhere that have something strange they deal in, in addition to tanning?There's a place here that has indoor miniature golf(not the cosmic I mentioned in another thread),a video store,tanning(they call their beds "hot beds"-anyone know what that means?),and they have animals all over the place!Rabbits in hutches,finches in big cages,their dog(a sheltie).They also sell water filtration systems,body jewelry-cheap,& they sell lotion shots of everything under the son.They are the cheapest around on their bottles.

How strange. The weirdest thing around here is a flower shop that has tanning beds. But that is because they bought a building that used to be a small salon and just bought the beds too.

hmmm...kinda like a flee market, a little of everything. are the animals for sale? cause I would think that's kinda gross, unless they were their well taken care of beloved pets.

Well, that is odd. One salon owner here brings her toy poodle to work but that's as funky as it gets! I like quirky though, I would like to check that out Summers! (assuming the beds are hot!)

There are quite a few travel agencies with tanning beds around here. That actually kind of goes together, buy a cruise package & while you're at it, you will need a tan before you go.

around here pretty much only tannng salons have beds. (a few nail and hair salons do too but not many)

There is a salon where i used to live that was a Children's Consignment store crossed with a tanning salon. It's like the original plan was to sell children's and babies clothes and furniture, and then they just threw a couple tanning beds in there as an after thought.

I used to go to a tanning place that was in the back of a laundromat. Guess this served a purpose, because while you were waiting for the wash, you could tan.

How about this tattoo parlor/ tanning salon...I don't think I'd tan @ a place where the do tattoo and piercings that's just weird. However they are open 24 hours a day which makes it very covenient I would imagine.

Becci I have no idea, some girl @ the cell phone cover place in the mall was saying she was going to start working there. I think it's in Davenport somewhere. Camio, that place would scare me I would never tan @ a photography studio. When the heatlh inspectors were here they said that's the one place that they worry about having hidden cameras and such.

Animals? I love animals, but that is sooooo unsanitary...and so illegal here in Texas. No animals in a tanning salon (except for seeing eye dogs), not that we have clients here that need them.

Missouri isn't regulated.We're only inspected by the fire inspector as far as I know.The animals cages were very clean.They have them all over the miniature golf site.The tanning area is separate.I'd heard about this place & had to see it.A little old couple own it.I didn't tan there cause I'd already tanned & I went there on the spur.Their beds were all Sun Quests(24 lamps) w/Hi-Tan lamps.The animals aren't for sale so I guess they're pets.One of the rabbits have been stolen twice out of it's hutch.It reappeared after the first time.Appliances & children's clothing...Interesting.I' ve heard of several older women who own a fabric store & loved to tan so they put in a few rooms w/beds in the back.I don't know what part of the country that's at.I think I saw it in a tanning magazine.The tattoo/tanning studio is different since they tell you,you really shouldn't tan for 2 weeks with a new tattoo.My friend & her husband want to open up something like that,though.They're really into tanning & tattoos.

I had a laundry mat down the street that recently switched into a tanning/laundromat.. The place has a catchy name, sun n suds, but the whole entire concept still scares me.. Is it just me or are some of the shadiest people at laundry mats? I am glad I have a w/d at home.

All that is soo strange!! The only weird thing is that my old salon's door was basically flush up against a porn shops door... Kinda like double doors. If I didn't watch myself... I would walk into the wrong door. I remember the look on the store clerks face when a young girl walked in! I just laughed!

my nail salon has tanning but i chose to tan else where because there bed are out of date and who knows last when thebulbs changed.

I have seen the Tanning Salon/Travel Agent combo in Rockford, Illinois. When you book your vacation you get free tans.

The salon I used to go to did tanning, hair, nails, æsthetician services and sold a bunch of purses and three-year-old make-up that were all around the store.

there is a tanning/cell phone store combo near the mall by my house. i had to go there once with my sister to get something for her phone and i was too weirded out by it.

Thats funny, all the animals around - thats really strange. I hae a lot of salons in my area, but nothing too strange. Most are just tanning salons, some are hair, nail and tan combos, some sell candles, swinwear, jewlery... but nothign really strange.

My tanning place is:
A full service tanning center
A full service gym
A cruise agency
They sell bathing suits
They have a video production company in there (video tape weddings etc)
They have a DJ business
(The video/dj business calls just ring through there, you can get information, but there isnt equipment laying around everywhere or anything lol)

Here we have a health food store that has a stand up bed in the back. The salon I use is pretty good but they are closed on the weekends. The owner of the tanning salon also owns an adult store. He has a couple of beds at the adult store that I have used but I do prefer to go to the regular salon. I have a hard time taking my eyes off the floor when I'm in the adult store!!:Shy:

I'm not too worried about someone breaking in my room or anything while I'm tanning. The beds are in basement and there is no reason to go down there unless you are tanning. Our city is pretty strict about pornography ( only the one adult store and there are no strippers here, either) and the store is pretty small. I just wish it wasn't on such a busy street!:) At least the staff are super nice.

I've heard of tanning salons and nail salons combined, and even hair and tanning salons combined; but never of pet store and tanning salon together. That's just unsanitary.

the place i use to tan at was also a christian book/music/clothes store and a christian home schooling/church school office......it seemsodd to me at times!!!

I've seen a pawn shop, cake decorators/bakery (they also did body piercing), convenience store, video store, and pizza place with a few beds.

The salon I go to only does tanning and haircuts. I wouldn't trust anything too off the wall.

My favorite place to tan up at school (they have 3$ tuesdays!) is a video/tanning place.. but it's gorgeous, new and REALLY clean!

I used to tan at a laundromat/tanning salon. The tanning salon half was really clean, had a great lotion selection and the beds were really nice. The best I've ever tanned in to date! ;)

There's also a popular clothing store/tanning salon in the same town (It's a small town, if you couldn't tell). I think maybe being a small town, business owners try to make more $ by throwing tanning, a seemingly lucrative business, in there. Two small businesses are better than one small business (in the way of the moola), right?

I think the cake bakery/tanning salon takes it. Those two businesses don't have ANYTHING in common!

there is a gas station/tanning salon here!!!!! crazy......but its always busy, their prices seem good compared to the other salons in this town....we dont have the large chain salons, just like locally owned ones, but quite a few

I always find this an interesting subject - all the salons in my area are pretty basic - tanning only salons, some are hair and nail combo salons.... a few sell candles, thats kind of fun..... did you search the forums about this? there are some really interesting threads from a long time ago about this.

I've seen a video & tanning place in Seattle but that's about it. I wouldn't be skeeved out to go to an adult store for tanning - it's a little funny but not too bad. I like going to adult stores anyway though, I go all the time :)
