I posted before about itching after tanning and I am getting no advice whatsoever at my salon... Here is a what is happening. I started tanning about a week or so ago.
I was pale but do not burn too easy. I do tan somewhat I just don't go out often. I went for my first session 9 minutes in a HP bed (it had weird bulbs all over the top of it rather that the long ones, kind of like the face tanners)
Second session 9 minutes (mega bed, long regular looking lights) I got burnt and started itching in the bed and for a few hours after.
Third session 7 minutes Itched during session and after but not to terrible.
Fourth session (tonight) Regular 20 minute bed. I started tingling and broke out in bad itch after 3 minutes. I held out for 3 more and ditched the other minutes I had left.
I am using Supre impact and You Wish by carribean gold. The itch I am having (if it a makes a difference) isn't like a bug bite or anything but more of a deep, pins and needles PAINFUL ITCH LOL! Can anyone offer suggestions. Also this time after tanning I showered a couple hours after and didn't apply lotion as the other times I applied lotion it made the itch worse. HELP!!!

??ënow, that's troubling. I hate to give any concrete advice, because I'm fairly new here. I would ask if you’re taking any medication that could make you photosensitive. (I've read even some birth control pills can cause somekind of reaction). So if your taking anything at all, that might be it - talk to your doctor. Maybe it's the lotions (do you have sensitive skin or allergies that you know of?). If your skin is really dry it can be itchy. If your burning in the beds, do not go until ALL of the itchiness & pinkness go Completely away. (Yes this could be a week or later, depending on the burn) Do you tan outside? has this ever happened to you outside? or any other time ever? how weird, are the lotions you're using a tingle?

Not on any medication whatsoever. No Birth Control. Not using a tingle lotion... I am not burnt either actually. I don't have any allergies that I can think of... Never itch when I am outside in the sun.. Here the thing also I don't think it can be what the clean the bed with because once I went with a towel wrapped around me and stilled itched all over my boobs and stomach (

Hi, I am definitely a newbie here but thought I would put my 2 cents in because of my own recent tanning experience. I too have just started tanning and I am very itchy also, but I think it is because I burned in the beds. I have only gone 3 times now, first time no problem, second time I got just a little pink so I thought by going the third time and not raising the minutes I would be ok, but no. I burned and I have been very itchy ever since. So, I am of course taking all the advice I have read from other posts about waiting until all the pink is completely gone before I tan again, but I am sure that is why I am itching. Maybe you too??

Hi Cheryl Well I haven't turned pink except once.... Some of my sessions are spaced apart 2 days or so. So I don't think that it is sunburn or overexposure. In fact a couple of my sessions I started to itch and hurt so bad I only tanned 5 minutes.

I had an itching problem but I figured out it was the lotion. At night my legs would itch so bad I couldnt sleep and nothing would help.

I got some new lamps for my bed about a month ago and when I first starting using them I burned. I still got in after I was burned and I started itching really bad, like you said it felt like pins and needles. I think it was because I got burned and still tanned, but mine did go away in several days. I tried using lotion and even Benyadrl cream and it did not help, but it should go away in few day. I feel for you, it was pretty bad for me too. I hope it gets better soon.

Hey your in Texas too! LOL I know exactly what you mean about now being able to sleep, It seems now that the itch is isolate to after 5 or so minutes in the bed and then a couple hours after. Did your itch ever go away?

The primary reason(s) for that tanning itch is dry and/or overheated skin. To cool the skin, try using a spray bottle with water in it. Itching can usually be relieved with a good skin moisturizer. Try California Tans Total Immersion, really great for some moisturization.

I think the heat of the blanket on my legs triggered the lotion>>>They only itched at night when I first got in bed. And then I would wake up with scratch marks all over my legs from scratching in my sleep..Seemed like I was scratching my tan away.
It went away a week after I stopped using the lotion. It was Double Dip lotion that did it.

Someone mentioned the spray bottle thing as well... Do you mean while in the bed use the water? I will have to try TI, my salon doesn't carry it though so I guess I will have to shop around

I would even put tons of moisturizer on before I went to bed, I think it all ended up caked up in my nails....

I had an itching problem but I never figured out what it was. I think because I got burned, just I just put aloe on and I was okay.

I still don't *REALLY* know what cause my legs to itch either.. I tried several different things to remedy the problem and it just quit afte a while. But now of an on I get a rash that last a few hours after tanning GRRRR LOl
