Beach Bum Rum

I know this has been out for a couple of years now but I have had yet to try it. I bought a bottle of it and I plan on using it tonight. I did a patch test on my skin because I am allergic to a lot of Cal Tan lotions. I was really put off by the smell and it seemed sticky, but if it gives me good color I will use it. What kind of results did anyone get with it?

I love Beach Bum Rum... it is very moisturizing, contains a bronzer, and it also contains gold mica to give your skin a "shimmer". The scent takes some getting accustomed to but it is well worth the results. Good luck with it and let us know how you like it!

How dark is the bronzer in this one? If you have used Cocoa or Pure Chocolate, is it darker than these two?

colorgod, the bronzer in BBR is not as strong as the one in Pure Chocolate. It does contain gold mica in it to give your skin a goldish shimmer.... but it has an awesome scent (pre-tan) and always leaves my skin very soft. I love it. Pure Chocolate is another excellent bronzer with an amazing scent. I just hate that it's in that stupid 6oz bottle. I use it all up in like 3 sessions.

most salons that sell CalTan have Beach Bum Rum...

mine carries CalTan, but only the products put out this year. If your salon doesn't have it, I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing a special order for you.

Good lotion. I can stop bashing it now. I actually thought it was the lotion that was making all the skin on me angry but it was actually California Tans Total Immersion. Weird I know. Glad I figured out it was that so I can go back and use my beach bum rum. It gave really good color.

The smell of Beach Bum Rum makes me want to gag myself with a wooden spoon. Most people who use a bronzer really like this lotion. The shimmer isn't all that noticeable and there are a lot of guys who like it too. Give it a good whiff before purchasing, I wouldn't want you to suffocate in the bed.

i love the smell of this lotion it was a major selling point for me. BBR and volcanic smell sort of similar thats why i bought both of them i love that smell it reminds me of tanning oils i used when i was a kid. to me they smell "beachy"

it used to have major popcorn-smell ATO but the last bottle I used was different.... no ATO at all.

I have the new formulation, in the new bottle stye, and it is much easier to squeeze out and apply. It works the same = GREAT = but still stinks to me. I would never go in public after using this, my husband says it is RANK!

i tried bbr on.....thursday. well according to taht icky salon it was bbr. it didnt look smell or sound like any of the things you guys are talking about. i think ima have to hunt my self down a REAL sample of this b/c aside from bronzes reaction to the smell it sounds wonderful...hmmmm...

We have sample packets of this at the salon I work at. Then again we have samples of just about every Cal Tan product that they make in packets.

okay, girls, I have been tanning almost a month now, not quite, but almost and I am hearing good things about this bbr, now I am even more confused as which bronzer to get now. I am stuck on bbr, Ambrosia Dark Bronzer, Stone Cold, and a non bronzer called Flaunt. Any suggestions to which would be better. If any of you had to choose, which would you go for? Oh, and how much of a tingle does the BBR have in it or is it just a cooling?

I've never used Ambrosia dark bronzer or Flaunt before.

I have used Fiesta Sun's Stone Cold which is only a cosmetics bronzer there's no dha in it. It is a cooling lotion and smells like bananas to me.

Fiesta Sun's Raspberry Tini has both a cosmetics and dha bronzer in it, if you want to go with a dha bronzer. It smells really good, just like Raspberries!

Beach Bum Rum is pretty good too. It's a light dha bronzer, especially great for a beginner dha lotion. It has a mica in it, to add a little shimmer to your tan. There's no tingle in it.

Rum on the Rocks is basically the cooling, dha version of Beach Bum Rum, but without the shimmer. It has the same scent as BBR.

Thanks for the input Jen, I am glad you told me about the cosmetic bronzer in Stone Cold, I didn't want one of those.LOL. I don't know if I want a beginner DHA though, I am fairly dark, not too dark, just a little though. So, I want something that is going to darken me a little more, that is why I am looking for a good bronzer, because I want to cheat a little. LOL. Anyone else have suggestions that have used the Ambrosia of Flaunt?

I know hoosays has been using Beach Bum rum and really Loves it and she has me convinced I have to have it I do use Rum on the Rocks often and I really like it so I'm sure I'll like the BBR also.

I don't think you'd be real happy with the Flaunt. I tried a sample of it and it was just. . . blah. Nothing exciting and didn't help my color out much.

So out of Ambrosia Dark Bronzer and the BBR, which would all of you use? I don't want to be streaky or orange, I just want to darken myself a couple of shades darker than I am now.
