I'm home from work today because the salon I work at was damaged from a tornado last
evening. We were having an Ultra Bronze delivered this a.m. but the whole strip mall is taped off due to a gas leak. No one
can get in. From what my boss said,we were
really lucky compared to some of the businesses there. I guess it just ripped the door off & blew some of the displays
around. Knocked the computer off. We have a huge glass window that we're lucky wasn't blown out. He had just put in a new a/c unit on the roof. Don't know about that but
there is roof damage you can see when you drive by.He was there but went to the back
so is okay.It happened at closing time & he didn't mention any customers so I'm assuming no one was there. I only live 5 minutes away in a mobile home so I consider myself blessed today. No matter how bad things may seem, they can always be worse.I
think my boss really lucked out. Some of the businesses had whole walls torn out.

So far, I have been lucky in missing tornadoes. Sunday night, a supercell passed close by and gave us some high winds and the town's tornado sirens went off but luckily, no tornado damage. I seen the damage in Kansas, Missori, and now Tennessee and Alabama (Jackson, TN in particular). Looks like the tornado season is now making up for a lackluster March and April. The NW area of my state is now under a tornado watch until 7 pm and more than likely, the watch may be extended towards my area or a new watch be issued.
Looks like I'll be watching the radars for the next few hours...
Hey Summers Tan, do you work at JeffinKC's salon?

We had a huge storm today at about 8:00am. Our school had to go into an emergency plan. It was stupid.

I heard that 38 people from Missouri and Tennesse die from that storm?
Tell Jeff hi for me, I met him briefly in KC at Heartlands show this year.

We had just a little shower today. Yesterday it flooded into people's homes.

I went to that trade show, too. It was a blast! We spent part of the day cleaning the salon.Mostly glass & tanning stickers. The Ultra Bronze is supposed to be delivered tomorrow a.m. but now the new(2 week old)ac system that was to accomodate it has to be replaced. We're looking at reopening on Friday but don't know when the UB will be available for use.

I lived in Independence before I moved north of the river to Gladstone.I miss Indep.
Thanks for your concern.Glad your sis is okay.We finished getting the salon back together today. The HP was delivered but don't know when the replacement a/c will be in since the strip mall may need an entire new roof. It's an additional ac we need for it.So I will be opening in the morning after being off all week except for cleaning.

Yes, our children were held at school for an extra 2 hours because it wasn't safe for them to be on the buses traveling around in those conditions.

Summer I lived in Gladstone when I was a kid too. We bought a brand new house, lived in it for 1 week, it went back, I think the last straw for Mom was when tub and toilet water ran down the outside of the house! LOL.
Independence is nothing like it was when I was a kid, at least not that I remember. It is soooo over crowded now. But my house has 30 acres in the back yard 1/2 of it are woods so everything to me is overcrowded.
