hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew the regulations of tanning beds while in the process of recieving laser surgery. Does anyone know anything about it? If you do, it would be very helpful! Also, does anyone know if its possible to like sheild your face persay while using a tanning bed? Thanks again and any advice would be very much appreciated!

Yep definatly ask your eye care professional. PLEASE ask them. Your eyes are way too important to leave it up to us to give correct advice.

I am not certain on this one. But my guess is you should not tan while in recovery mode from this surgery. While many of the eyewear available do block out UVA & UVB.. I would guess that the light would hurt. I would suggest you talk to your DR on this one...

It depends on what type of laser surgery, is it Lasik or laser skin surgery (like resurfacing)? If it's laser skin surgery I would deffinately stay out of the tanning bed or sun until it completely heals because your skin will be really sensitive and might hyper-pigment or burn severly if exposed to UVR too early.

As a salon owner and NOT having an answer for this I would say NO, don't tan. But the best advice would be to ask your doctor.

I had laser eye surgery last summer (PRK), and my surgeon told me I could go back to tanning as soon as I recovered, which was about a week.
