Ok so I started tanning like 5 or 6 years ago. At the time I tanned my face often.
I started noticing like a year ago little lines under my eyes and my whole face creased when I smiled.
So I stopped tanning my face all together.
Well I gave in yesterday and tanned my face for the first time in a year. Any recommendations on the creases in my face? Is it becoming to dry?
Im just gonna tan it once a week.
I use Retina to keep my skin clear and I have really sensitive skin so I cant put lotion on my face.
This is probably a stupid topic but I really am tired of the pale face and Im scared I will damage my face if I tan it..
Does any of this make sense?

Hmmmm. Since you can't use a lotion on your face when you tan, I don't know. Are you using moisturizer on it? Not to tan, but everyday?

Is the Retin A prescription or over the counter? Retin A causes photosensitivity, so be very careful. You could ask your dermatologist to recommend a moisturizer that you could use since you have sensitive skin.

Its a prescription. I wash it off every morning and I dont tan till afternoon. No I dont use a moisturizer on my face. So do you think the creases when I smile is from dry skin?

I've just discovered a product that actually seems to work on the crease between my brows (I HATE that crease!) It's from Lancome and it's called Resolution. I like it! I can actually tell a difference when I use it (and yes, I am VERY skeptical of anti-wrinkle ANYTHING). And it doesn't cause peeling as far as I can tell (been using it about a week). hths!

It could be a combination of both tanning and not keeping your face moisturized. Even without tanning, your face can wrinkle if not moisturized. Ask your derm to recommend a moisturizing lotion for you. And the retin A will make your face more sensitive. If you tan it, be very careful not to overexpose it. Maybe someone on here who doesn't tan their face can offer some suggestions for self-tanner or bronzer.

I don't feel like I've helped at all with this question.

Sunbunny - actually you all have added some good ideas and I hate to ask my dr. about it cause I know she will say DONT TAN YOUR FACE and then I will have to hear the HOW TANNING IS BAD FOR YOU stories...AGH!

Another suggestion-Lancome makes a facial bronzer called Flash Bronzer that works very well. It is not a self tanner and it does wash off at night, but gives really great color! Before I started tanning, I used this and it is the only temporary bronzer that really shows up! (I tried MANY!) Just another thought!

okay Designer Skin makes a great facial tanning lotion called "Saving Face". It is non-comodogenic, hypoallergenic, etc.... It is very moisturizing and gives beautiful golden brown tanning results.... I also use an undereye cream every morning and evening....

I also have stopped tanning the face - If you have sensitive skin you may not want to use an st on your face cause they tend to be drying - I use Physicians Formula Bronzer- It matches my tan perfect -

I also use perscrption acne med. I used to use retin-a, but I was sick of putting it on every night. I switch to tazorac and I only have to put that on every 3-4 days. It's great because I can still tan my face without having the effects of sensitive skin due to the med. You might want to also talk to your doc. about getting a prescription lotion. Acne products are usually drying on your skin and you may need a little extra TLC.
