i have a question.... i found this yellow stopper stuff at sally beauty supply (when i was picking up a case of lotion *i am soooooooooo kidding*)
and i have been toying with the idea of getting a french manicure (i haven't had one in aaaaaaaaaaaages) and i don't want my nails turning yellow... i have gone to every place in my area that does nails (no quick E stop nail places) and my nails have yellowed... i'd like to find one good uv blocking polish that would work.

JA has one.I believe it's a top coat. They also have plastic nail protecters for tanning.
I,too, have been considering getting back into the artificial nail thing. My natural nails suck.Gave the artificial ones up a few years back.Got tired of keeping them up.My
kids are older now so I have a little more time.As for having them & tanning,I would probably go with the plastic covers. As it is, I use a tanning cap so what's one more
accessory.Maybe I need to get some of that teeth whitener that you use in the tanning bed.Just kidding...but...I wonder how much it is & if it works...

yea my salon sells those plastic thingys too the nail savers but i generally don't need them since i usually use a colored polish. my natural nails suck too thats why i got acrylics again and i like how the nail polish actually stays on with the acrylics

I use something from Sally's - Orly "Sunscreen For Nails" topcoat. It works really well as long as you apply it within a few hours of going tanning. I think it was $4.

I just got this one too - I was going to get the Yellow Stopper but the lady told me the Orly works better. I think it's ok on the shine. As far as those nail saver things go - **** - I barely have time to get all my lotion on let alone slap 10 pieces of plastic on my nails!

Anya, i purchased every single yellow stopper around! NONE OF THEM WORK!!!! I spend 25 dollars a WEEK on getting my nails done and every single time they have turned yellow! As for the *Nail Savers* they are plastic and i felt as though they were messing up my nails and making my fingers sweat.... Therefore my mother suggested cutting off the ends of the fingers on a pair of gloves.... It works great! My nails and fingers can move and breath! and I spend 2 bucks on a pair of gloves instead of 15 on the nail savers.... Just try it, im sure you'll love it!

The answer is yes the teeth whitener works!! Ask your local salon to contact us for a sample. You will have to make your purchase through the tanning salon. Give them this toll free number 1-866-90-teeth

I have acrylic wraps on my nails and they don't turn yellow. I actually like my nails much better because the wraps aren't as thick as the plain acrylic.

I've been picking @ my acrylics like crazy how in the world do you get them off w/o taking your real nail with it?!?!? so far only two of the ten have come off, I really need to get them redone for graduation, should I just have the rest removed when I get the new ones put on?

Have them removed when you get them redone. Didn't it hurt to do it yourself? My friend takes hers of herself, and she said it hurt. I've not had any problems with mine so far. Am I supposed to let my nails "breathe" once every few months? I've had acrylic on mine for about 4 months now.

i had my nails done for 5 years straight and never had a problem. i had taken them off for a few months around christmas (just got them done again in april) cus i couldn't afford it for awhile. i've taken my nails off myself many times. but if your acrylic is old and you are able to pick it offlike that you should get them totally redone.

When I get a new set of acrylic nails, I always soak the old ones off in acetone. Takes about 45 minutes to an hour.

I soak off every 3 months at the salon, I soak in acetone, and she little by little she files it off, then she applies the acrylic over my own nails, I NEVER get tips back on... I wont let her cut my nails down when i soak off... I like it better done this way.. never any tips to grow off !!!![ This Message was edited by: Samsara26 on 2003-06-01 22:03 ]
