I've been on my own little rendetion of the atkins diet for like 3 months. i don't feel very healthy, but i like the structure of eating on a diet.
I want to try weight watchers but i have no idea where to start. I REALLY don't want to attend meetings and all that. I pretty much understand the whole point system and all that. My question is how many points should i start out allowing myself?
I'm really interested in this diet, I could use any help ya'll can provide!
Thanks!

I'm not on a diet at all, but I have tried the Weight Watcher's lasagna florentine. ( I THINK that's what it was called) b/c I'm a vegetarian (it has no meat) and it was VERY VERY good! So if you're gonna start doing that - definitely give that one a try!

I did weight watchers a few years ago and I really like it. I'm starting back up on it tomorrow. I tried the atkins thing but it really doesn't work with my lifestyle. I actually went to meetings the first time but, they really didn't do it for me. So, instead my boyfriend and I are going to WW together and be our own motivators.

vballahs, if you go to the weight watchers site you can join that way and still get all the info. or you can do what i did... I just went to their meeting site and told them I needed to buy updated point books. They sold them to me without even checking whether I was a member.

As far as the points per day. They allow you a certain range based on your weight. There are also guidelines as to how much exercise you should do each week, how many servings of fruits, veggies, dairy, and water to consume each day.

I bought the WW cookbook and the point ranges are listed in the front. They have some excellent low point versions of some very high point foods.

I'd be happy to tell you more if you want to PM your questions. I think it's a great diet as long as you're willing to follow their rules. It's very easy to cheat and eat crap while staying within your point range. It all depends on how diciplined you are.

as Cincy said, the number of points you get depends upon your weight... we you lose weight, you are allowed fewer points.

I do the online version so I never have to go to meetings or anything....

Is weight watchers hard to do? Do you really have to change alot?

Basically, you can eat what you want. Every food is assigned a point value and you can only have a certain amount of points each day. But, they do have guidlines as to how many servings of certain food groups you should have each day. I find that it's very simple for me. I've gotten so familiar with the points values for the foods I eat that I can pretty much do it without really thinking about it anymore. They even have a book that tells you the point values for fast food items.
