This site has been up a few days now and I am curious what people think. On I was one of the salon owners that was always beating my shoe on the table that tanners needed their own space and owners needed their own space. I really did not know that Chunn had this site up his sleave but it worked out that way. So what do you tanners think? Is this better now, can you still get advice, answers to questions etc the same way or better? I think it would be nice to have a forum for people who are tanners now with ownership on their minds. Maybe even a listing of used tanning beds for sale that tanners can buy for home use and or salons for sale. I am just curious as to what you guys and gals think.

I think that I am following what you say. We made this site for tanners to talk about tanning. I think that tanners and owners need to come together and share information to one another.

don't most websites have a "new to the industry" forum? anyone thinking of opening a salon would be doing research on the owner sites, not here.

do you think that most owners would be happy to see that forum here?

I'm kinda wondering where I should be since I am just a lowly salon attendant. I consider myself a tanner first & foremost over being a salon employee. I talk to my customers more on the level of being a fellow tanner. Too bad you couldn't use the smiley faces who tanned here. They were too cute.

I think she means the ones that you use to measure indicate how many posts people have at the other site.

There have been some questions on here about how to go about looking at salons for sale. If you don't go to the other boards then this board might want to help people with that. It is sort of a gray area, if you are a tanner looking to become an owner which board do you go to? As for home tanning units a lot of salons sell their beds off to home tanners or they end up there one way or another. If I trade them in to a distributor they could easily end up in a home tanners place. I don't mind at all a home tanner buying used beds from salons. I think where most salon owners get upset is the mass mailing by people like ETS pushing huge amounts of sales. I could be wrong though. I am not pushing these ideas, I am just curious what people want to see here.

Chica was right. Those are the smiley faces I was talking about.

i don't like that a lot of the posts seem to have been erased and have that image instead that it doesn't meet the standards or whatever. they seem to be heavy into censoring here, that's about my only complaint. i also think the moderators should be identified whether they own a salon or work in one or whatever else their qualification is.

I wasn't aware that any posts had been erased or edited. I edited one of mine because it double posted but that was it. Which ones have been edited?

most of a girl called mary, they all have a not up to standards banner or something, and no post.

Is that her screen name? I did a search for posts by Mary and got nothing.

I had noticed that alot of the people had duplicate posts thats how they get rid of them.

if they are duplicate they should be deleted because just putting the icon that is not up to standards makes it look like they were censored.

rich her name is mary222 and under the 'not visible' icon it says her posts were not up to standards

We can't delete posts. We can only make them not visible. I think that the "not up to standards" icon isn't the best way to handle duplicate posts because it look like someone said something inappropriate when most of the time that is not the case.

I know what you guys mean...
I wish I could just delete single posts that are DUPES....

Would u like me to "UNMODERATE" them???

I know I accidentally get duplicate posts when I try to back out of the topic instead of clickin the link back to the main page. Grrr. You would think I would eventually learn! hehe

why don't the people removing the duplicate posts just post 'duplicate' instead of putting on the censorship icon, it would make more sense to me. if you can't do that then just leave the duplicate posts.

njchica

because we cannot edit posts... we can only hide them.

This issue will be solved soon though. I'd love to prevent duplicate posts from happening in the first place. Most of the "post not visible" posts are due to them being duplicates.

On another note I am extremely impressed with the amount of posting that has taken place in the last few days. The people that registered have warmed up to the site very quickly and that's awesome! We hope that you guys will encourage your friends and other tanners to come here and post.

Personally I love this site just wish it wasn't so censored. I am glad there's a site for tanners only because I got sick of seeing tanners disrespected by salon owners. So what if someone wants to own their own bed, I mean I live in Michigan do you honestly think my buying a bed in MI would in any way take away from a salon in say Texas making money? Not that I could afford my own bed but what if I could? Same goes for lotions. Honestly if my salon has it I usually buy it there, I hate waiting and after paying for shipping how much would you honestly save buying on-line? But if they don't it wouldn't stop me from buying it elsewhere. Most questions are answered by tanners from experience. In my experience I have learned that if you want an honest answer ask a tanner. However I have gotten some good advice from owners as well.
