can someone tell me more about this? I took Don's skin-typing quiz last year and found that this is my skin type... but I know NOTHING about it.

and, no, none of the salons I've ever tanned at have skin typed me or even discussed the idea of it.

The general population falls into the 3 range: a, b, or c. We would start you at no more than 10 to 12 minutes and I would guess your skin tends to lean on the oily side so a "heavy" moisturizer and/or lotion would not be best for you.

We are working on adding a skin typing questionaire through this forum soon. In the meantime, I think www.smarttan.com has one up that EVERYONE should at least be curious enough to check out. If your salon isn't doing this for you, then GO THERE. It is required in Texas, and I wholeheartedly agree with using it.

my face is oily/dehydrated but my body is dry..... I use the thick moisturizers to keep my skin soft.

It's required everywhere in Texas? My salon has a Smart Tan sticker on their door and I have NEVER been skin typed by them. They never even asked me any questions; the first time I walked in they just looked at my pale face and told me to go in for 7 minutes.

It's required but it doesn't mean they all do it. Be surprised how many times I hear..."No one's ever told me...". The second salon I took over was not sanitizing eyewear, everyone dropped and grabbed from the same basket. ***shudder***

I sure guessed that one wrong, sorry. I am a skin type 4, olive complexion, and you are so close to that I assumed incorrectly. Sorry. Are you using a lot of products with alcohol and/or oils?

Just trying to learn here, I'm not usually wrong with customers from across the counter. Not bragging either, but we have few lotion complaints after a sale.

It would be good if this site would have the skin-type questionarre. I'm the thin line between 3a and 3b.
let's have the new skin type questionarre when you get time, Solid

ok, from the link provided above I am a skin type 3 however I don't see anything about a b or c, where does that come into play?

Chica was referring to a different questionnaire. I hope this link works.
