Salt is not really fattening but will cause water retention so you want to keep your salt intake low- Drink plenty of water. Everyone has different approaches to weight loss, I basically lower my fat and calorie intake and excercise regularly. I find keeping it simple works best for me.

Yeah, salt is obviously necessary for life, but you get enough of it through eating normal food (probably more than you need actually). Just try to avoid it and you'll also avoid starchy and fatty foods too. (and likely cut down your beer intake!)

salt's not fattening, but if you eat too much and don't drink a sufficient amount of water to flush it out of your system, then you can retain water (or bloat) and "feel fatter."
I like to drink a few glasses of water a day with a slice of squeezed lemon and 2 packets of splenda. Instant lemonade and the water and lemon are great diuretics (gets rid of excess water weight).

My sports team has a strength and conditiong coach, and whenever I asked him about weight loss (tummy, butt, thighs, etc.) He basically told me to cut down on my carbs but not take them out completely because they give you energy. He also said that the more "healthy" proteins you can eat, the better...

beer makes you fat.
if you want a roostertail, try bourbon, etc. no carbs (good mixed with diet ginger ale)

Yes, alcohol makes you fat quickly. Not only does the ethanol turn into fat in your liver, it also inhibits lipolysis of your existing fat.
Edit: One small benefit of alcohol is that it helps prevent your arteries from clotting (as in the case of a heart attack) but this is only for moderate intake. It still makes you fat, and disrupts your metabolism.[ This Message was edited by: bikini princess on 2004-01-30 18:10 ]

Beer has loads of calories and carbs. If you want to lose those pounds, cut down on the brewskis! (another good reason to drink margaritas!)
