alright, i did a very small excercise yesterday, lifted a few weights and managed a few lunges. my arms aren't sore today, and i can feel my thighs are have been worked out. is it alright to do the step climber today? i don't want to overdue it. so is excercising like tanning? you have to give your body a break? or if you feel fine the next day, is it safe to continue?

Some people do it like 7 days a week, but the general rules are that you work out 5 times a week ideally, and a minimum of 3 times a week. 45mins-1hr per session is recommended, although some people do longer... though that's not necessary.

Well, When I was working out real regular when I was in my late teens, I'd go 5 days a week, but switch up on my workouts, like Legs and lower back 1 day and then arms and upper body the next day, and just rotate my workout like that. I was really big into lighter body building so I was working with heavy machines, and I was told that rotation of your workouts is good not to hurt yourself by overworking 1 part. Now I'm getting back into excersising regular again, but I'm doing it 3x a week to give my muscles a rest between workouts, or I feel I could risk hurting Myself IMO.. So I'd say yeah, it's kinda like it, at least for me, so I'm keeping the same tanning schedule as working out, every other day

Everyone knows their own body best, if you feel like you're up to it you can work-out 5x a week - I usually do my work-out every day for 20 minutes.

I used to work out quite a bit, but I was semi fanatic. *chuckles* I worked our daily with aerobics and weights, alternating the weight training from upper body to lower body. Aerobics helped to work out the stiffness.

i love working out..ive been in the gym for 17 years now..not counting the sports i was in growing up..i always start of with cardio..not only warms the muscle but gets your metabolism going and stretches you some..after that i stretch and go into my routine..ill start with abs go to legs...next day..chest and triceps..next day abs, biceps and back..my shoulders are built up as much as i want them so ill incorporate some lateral raises and military presses on my shoulder day...my back i do on my chest day..i like to mix things up so one day i might do a circuit routine..and i run..play volleyball..tennis..softb all..swim..basketbal..any thing to keep me axctive and from getting into a boring routine..im at the gym 3 to 4 days a week..if you mix things up youll be more likely to stick with it...anyone at your gym can give you a variety of exercises and it wont be long before you are getting stronger and toned..dont train the same muscles 2 days in a row..they need time to recoup..the soreness will get better but remember no pain no gain..just dont increase your weight too fast..build gradually..you need to be able to do anywhere from 10 to 15 reps..without it being too difficult.....there are alot of people on here that work out and im sure they can give you advice also once they see the thread..good luck!!

i work out every day, especially cardio. it is like an addiction for me, the only annoying thing is when it is too crowded and you feel rushed.

I workout everyday too, but I vary my routines on alternate days to hit different muscle groups. I also use free weights one day, then Nautilus on the next. Definitely cardio every day though.

laynie: I use an exercise ball that I am in love with!! There are many different ways and exercises you can do to work your lower back, abs, butt, and thighs. I also would reccomend about 20 minutes on a Treadmill. It always make me feel like I have had a butt-lift after a couple weeks on one...hope I helped you in some way...

You can do cardio everyday. If you are lifting to get big you need to give your muscles 48 hours rest minimum. I isolate a different body part everyday(evening workout) and do abs and cardio monday through friday in the mornings. I have recently restructured my diet and workout regime because I am trying to get to 200lbs by Summer.

thanks everyone. i've given the thighs a rest, but lifted a little tonight and did some sit ups and such. i'm not really following a schedule, i'm just excercising normally when i decide to watch tv. just to keep me active, and hopefully tone my thighs a tad [i'm being more serious about the thighs].
